Happy Thanksgivakkah!
Woke up early to do something I haven't done in 43 years when I was a senior in Central's 230th graduating class, I attended the Central High - Northeast High annual Thanksgiving game. The series started in 1892 and it is the Philadelphia area's most recognized Thanksgiving football tradition. The schools play each year for the wooden horse trophy as well as bragging rights. Started off at the Victory Breakfast where I hung out with fellow geezer grads (you would not believe how many there are of us) then off to the game.
The school has changed considerably since my days at dear old high…girls now attend along with the boys.
A side benefit was an early morning journey on the Pennsylvania Turnpike devoid of traffic and those pesky Pennsylvania State Troopers. Funny how that road is so much better at 85 mph.
