50th Anniversary Car
50th Anniversary Car
Stopped by my dealer to have an engine latch and cable installed and to have a look at the new toys as well as partake of a latte. Lo and behold, there were two interesting toys on display: 50th anniversary car and a turbo.
Notice that the 50th has GT3 wing mirrors

Also not a fan. It doesn't feel "right" either.

I like women's dresses on women, especially short dresses. I just don't like them (dresses ) on my Porsche seats.
I saw the 50th anniversary edition at the LA car show. Graphite grey with the hounds tooth interior. I thought it was gorgeous! From photos I thought I like geyser grey better. I still haven't seen that color in person but I can't imagine it would look any better than the graphite. It was on display right next to a GT3. I want them both!

Just picked up my 50th Anny - Same HOUNDSTOOTH interior as my 1973 Carrera RS - Yup - in fact that is one of the reasons why I bought one - and I love it - classic - Pure heritage - even the wheels I spec'd are Fuchs wheels - I don't think the race drivers who owned the legendary 9173 Carrera RSs thought the interiors were so lady-like - -- regardless, I LOVE it..... Note the old one is my old 73 RS - the other is a stock photo - mine is a seven speed three pedal black exterior - she is in the shop for some subtle mods this week ..... pics soon

RE: 50th edition interior...when I first saw the picture of the seat I loved it! Old school, yet it still had a very minimal and modernistic look and feel to it. WHAT I DO NOT LIKE: those WHEELS! They completely ruin the exterior visual presence. They look out of place...I think new school 19 inch Fuchs would have done the trick.
These special and anniversary editions always seem interesting but I never really understand the point.. I guess if it happens to be your perfect combinations of features and colors.. But otherwise they always seem to be a bit over the top.. They remind me of Indy pace car editions of 78 trans ams.. 10 years later you see them and kinda chuckle at how cheesy they are and that someone actually bought it new...
I realize I am probably just in the minority as I feel similarly about a lot of custom cars and aftermarket dad ons.. The beauty of the lines and shapes of a car are lost with the desire to stick on as much bling as possible..
