Since we're advertising the R8, I recommend to watch this video instead of the smoking tire video. Can't help thinking that guy in the smoking tire video has no clue what he is talking aboit. Like it is the first fast car he drives. (Although the outcome of both videos is the same, so he clearly knew what he was saying LOL)
Not that I'm such a big fan of Motortrend, but they make nice videos.
If I was the OP, I would shorten my shortlist to second hand R8 V10 (plus), a new 991 C2S or C4S and second hand 991 TTS. Just my $0.02

Yea I've seen that video. I don't know though if I really need the v10 plus. A regular v10 would be fine. Plus it would have to be 2014 because of the DCT.
If I can find a 991 TTS in red that will be number 1. But right now on cars.com there are 18 total red coupe TTS/TT on the market.
I think the order should be this
991 TTS (used if can be found in right color and options)
991 TT( used and same criteria as above or 15k discount given off new)
991 GT3 (if can be test driven)
audi r8 v10/v10 + (used if can be found in red with right options and DCT)
audi r8 v8(new)
991 c4s(new)
991 c2s(new)

BTW R8 V8 I would skip. Great engine, but not in that car. Want that engine (with slightly more power) and a perfect DD? Get an RS5 and save yourself a lot of money. But an RS5 is more of an American muscle car, with german refinement and styling. It's not a sportscar.
That said... I'm ordering one this week, but that's a cabriolet and no substitute for my Boxster or other future sportscar, but more of an addition.
