His description is accurate
The fact that they are inducing coma and lowering temp is however a sign that the injury is very serious

The sad part of all this is Michael will never be the same person he was before the accident regardless of all the efforts I am sure are being done. I feel for his family, and the loss of what he represented to the entire automotive world.

This is so sad, I heard of it shortly after it happened yesterday
Initial reports said it wasn't serious, obviously the reports were inaccurate.
Skiing can be very dangerous, glad it's not one of my "vices"
So crazy a guy that built his career going regularly over 200MPH on the track gets hurt this bad on the slopes, arrggh.
Hopefully he will recover very soon, we can only assume he's getting the best medicine available in the world, I hope it's enough.

Traumatic brain injury is serious stuff. Around two months ago a buddy - an ER Doc - was out with my cycling club and fell. He struck his head was wearing a cycling helmet. He was in a coma and is now recovering in a rehab. Still can't speak but is making progress.

This is the area where Shumi fell...lots of bolders. It is still not clear whether he entered it on purpose. His son was sking with him. Accident took place at 11 am.
