991 GT3 Actual Price vs MSRP
Maybe need a boycott list, I believe the Mitsu EVO 7/8 people got together and maintained a list of dealers who gouge, where they wouldn't buy cars from, (I think they even made harassing calls to the sales staff) cmon if they can do it Im sure we can too (boycott, not harassing calls)
recommended/dealers to avoid
To Avoid: 2 wks ago, a friend told me Beachwood (PENSKE!) in Cleve. had an avail GT3 allocation. I called, and they did, BUT "I had to buy another Pcar in addition to the GT3 order". I asked them to quote me a trade-in of my 32k mi BoxS on a new, loaded BoxS. A day or two later, they gave me a ridiculous quote of $15k, 50% of any reasonable trade-in value. I said not acceptable.
They said they would call back...never did.
Great dealers: Zimbrick, Lyle-Pearson!!!!

I don't get what a dealer hopes to accomplish by marking up.
$20K on a handfull of limited allocation cars won't make a real difference in their yearly numbers.
However, it will offend buyers and cause them to sell fewer cars and then get less allocations in the future

Their short term greed is counter productive.
When local CA buyers start buying out of state, that is lost sales and most out of state dealers will tell you they get a majority of their business from CA buyers.
20k over list
My local dealer in Atlanta, Hennessy is charging me 20k over for a feb. build car. Story is they got it from another dealer and had to pay them mslp. I have bought 2 previous cars from them, (2007 911 turbo and 2010 panamera turbo). The cars color and options were locked in (Mexico blue and pccb) and although not my favorite color choice, I reluctantly gave them a deposit. Still cheaper than a turbo s and more exclusive, although I feel like somewhat of a second rate customer. Purely a supply and demand condition and impulsive people like me that support this practice. Never have considered another dealer, but this definitely makes that an option in the future.

I wouldn't pay anything over, you wont get it back at resale the money is just gone poooff, wait a 2-3 mos, dont give into the hype, its a massed produced item, although we love them, its like ps4, they will make more for us, charging a premium over MSRP really hurts the customer, please wait, especially if you dont like the color combo, wait for what you want so you dont spend every day looking at the car with regret. Please for this kind of money dont settle. and if they tell you that you have no choice, lawyer up, fight for what you want. Seriously, if you can afford thee car, you can afford to take the steps to make it what you want and what you love. I once bought a car that wasn't my color, I regretted it every day i had that car, everytime I drove it every day, order what you want, and wait, pay MSRP or less and you will be much happier. This car isnt made of limited panda fur and moondust, they make them every day, every day, lots of them, and they will make one just for you if u wait a few more weeks
maybe in cali markups are routine, thats why people there buy cars out of state When have any 911s remained over MSRP after a few mos? except for the 89 Speedster, GT3RS and RS 4.0 I can't recall a time, ever.
I'm simply telling the OP that if he's too impatient to wait for a car, he can have a car right now for only 5k over. 20k is just silly IMO. You're right...they will make plenty of cars.

Ha ha! Well said but I'm not sure they will make as many as they can sell. Funny thing is PCNA has not explained why they are limiting production.
Cars like GT3's are now bad for their image

I also imagine they are afraid of the warranty exposure on 9,000 RPM track toys.

I just don't understand all this hostility over markups. It's supply and demand, as simple as that. Happens to everything in life. Football tickets, concert tickets, iPhones, iPads, watches, food, housing. If a dealer can sell a Turbo S for $40K over MSRP, good for them, and good for the guy who has enough money to pay $40k over MSRP. Now, if you had a contract with the dealer to buy at $x but then they backed out of the contract, that's a different story. Otherwise, it's capitalism! No one is price gouging water during an earthquake...

Another stated the dealer wanted him to buy 2 cars, in order to get the 1 car he wanted.
If you accept that as ethical then you are a good fit for the select demographic those dealers are looking for.
