Well I was thinking about both at one time especially after amg-s model was announced. I had a E63 amg and while it felt slightly faster than the 991 C4S I purchased it just wasn't anywhere near as fun to drive. Going fast in a straight line gets boring quick. The 991 is a blast to drive everyday. I don't know your age but I only see 55+ people driving CLS's, still got about 20 years to reach that point. If you want a straight line car that drives like a tank go for the AMG. If you want a little more involved driving experience and like to toss your car around a bit there's no question you should go for the Porsche. The CLS is also going to have a slight redesign next year as well.

My wife has the CLS63 and I'm not very impressed by the build quality of the car. The car doesn't feel solid like my CL63 or any Porsche for that matter. 911 all the way!!

In my opinion, a CLS is a cool car for someone that knows nothing about cars.

The CLS is a far better all around car, it really has some of everything a good car should have.
It's far more comfortable and quiet and has a big trunk, and still handles well and is crazy powerful.
However, the 991 runs circles around it as soon as turns and braking are involved.

What I don't like about the AMG is the trans.
It's not horrible in auto mode but it has trouble keeping up with you, when you use the paddles.

A manual 991 is nearly the polar opposite of a CLS.
The 991 has way better brakes and handling but you give up quite a bit of comfort and utility to get that.

It depends what your priorities are.

Solution, get the 991 then let your hot GF/Wife get a CLS 63

Lmao these replies are great ...

I know everything about cars and work on them all the time.

Back in 08 I almost got a e63 amg but the turnoff was the trans and the traction control

What if I throw the possibility of a pre owned lambo or Ferrari into the mix ??

Main concerns on those are the maintenance and daily driving capabilities I only drive abut 20 miles round trip to my office however.

If you have to think twice about the 991, don't get it! Go for anything else....even the CLS.

The 991 is a visceral experience and it's not for everyone. However, one instinctively knows whether they like it or not. If you do.... there is no other car quite like it and therefore choosing it over anything else is usually a no brainer.

It may be that you're unsure on the type of hottie you want to attract!
