Don't forget the noselift button. It's a GT3 option, but you can still get the button for your console. Thought about combining it with the TechArt lift kit.

Also, I think I've seen the PSE and AS buttons in different positions before, and I may be old, but the PSE button could possibly be on the left side.... Maybe I am dreaming.

Hmm, Interesting idea rearranging the buttons..

All the 991 schematics and service manual information are available on-line but unfortunately for a cost. It seems really geared to professional shops as a year subscription is 5000 Eurio, or you can pay by the page.

And no you can't just buy a set of schematics or a service manual. You have to create an account and then you pay by the page..or section.. depends on what the information is, I think the schematics are about 8 Euro a page.. The trick is really figuring out what page it is you want as I find navigating the site rather cumbersome..

I have yet to find anything useful by googling on schematics or service info for the 991, usually if you find something it is actually for older models..

Here is a link to the sign in page where you can create an account..

I do not believe the buttons on the center counsel have replaceable buttons -- in other words you simply cannot punch out a blank button and replace it a new button. I think the center console is customized depending on your options and underneath the console is a circuit board and not individual wired buttons. It is not like the old days where you can buy a switch, punch out the plate and run the wire.

I paid $50 for my set of stickers. It seems crazy expensive for something that should cost $10 but I guess they don't sell a lot of these and they have to pay for their set-up and design costs. Still I'm OCD enough that I was willing to pay the $50 to cover up some of the blank buttons. The white lettering on the sticks and the black background are a little brighter than the other buttons but you really have to focus on it to notice it. Otherwise, I think they look a lot better than stupid blank buttons.

Well, I've been told anything is possible... lol. I am not worried about the circuit-board. I'm pretty darn good with a soldering gun, and have worked on circuit boards over the years to get them to do what I want. I will pull the cover off soon -- was curious if anyone happened to do so already and had a pic. My interest in seeing it is to get an idea of how it was integrated, how much space is available - or not. And I doubt that every car is a custom. More than likely the circuit board is developed with a concept of modularity, meaning when an option is added or deleted (PSE for example) an additional connection is made or left "blank". Otherwise you would have to maintain completely separate wiring for each button, etc. I know for example that PSE can be added to a non-PSE car and the button swapped for the blank. From a manufacturing perspective it wouldn't make sense in my opinion to source completely different boards based on each option configuration that a buyer may select. Also, it is very likely the same board is used in multiple vehicle platforms.... Porsche is seemingly very good at component reuse.

But what do I know -- . I am just a tinkerer when it comes to this stuff.

Would they do any type of design you request? I am thinking about retrofitting some of the blank buttons to actual switches (i.e. for laser jammer or radar detector). Just asking in case you knew and to share the thought, I'll shoot them an email.

Serge

PS: funny coincidence to see another 991 owner called Serge on the forum Maybe we'll meet one of these days at VIR...

You still have 2 blank buttons in the middle for calling strippers or topless barmaids
Sorry, could not resist after the nice pic you posted a couple of days ago

I disagree with these "entry & drive is useless" comments. It allows me to keep my key in my purse or gym bag, and twisting the "fake" key is no different than pressing a silly button. I like it. It was standard on my Audi, and standard on my last Corvette. I wouldn't have paid extra for it on the Porsche, but it came with the premium plus package that I had to buy to get the full leather. I wouldn't have bought the PPP either, but I had to have the leather.

As for all of the blank options in the center console, you guys need to remember that this car is sold around the world, not just in the USA. There may be options unavailable to us.

lol nice. Anyways, in regards to the center stack is it not the same as the one found in oanamera and cayenne? They have extra buttons for air suspension/ride height and so on. I do not believe the console of the 911 and boxster can be filled with OEM options but I could be wrong.

I was wondering if anyone would catch that.

It's a man purse. Some might call it a messenger bag. I've really gotten attached to it - I have my phone, car fobs, business cards, Kindle, newspaper, a pen, maybe a check and some deposit slips, secret key thingie for my E*Trade brokerage account, and sometimes my lunch.

Sure, I may look a bit metrosexual carrying it, but I don't care. Hey, middle-aged man driving a red sports car, am I a cliche or what?
