Just traded up from the Boxster S
That's a shame. Even I say this as a PDK owner. I was at the dealership last weekend and drove a 7-spd C2. Really liked the placement of the shifter. Big improvement.
Beautiful ride! I traded in a 2008 Cayman S Sport 6MT (and a 2013 S5 6MT) for my white 991S 7MT. Our cars are optioned very similarly, though mine doesn't have PSE. At least not yet. Unfortunately, the weather in NJ has been pretty brutal and my car has been tucked away. I too am interested in your feedback comparing this car to your Boxster S.

Thanks for all of your compliments and good wishes. It looks like I will have hardly any drive-time with the C4 this week. The Panamera 4S is my daily driver and has been great so far with the weather we've been having. I'll be taking the C4 to the dealer on Friday for them to install the clear bra...I'll have it there when they open and will press them to get the car back to me the same day since it's supposed to snow on Saturday.
The weather in the Northeast has been so brutal this winter. I've got winter wheels and tires on my car, but I'm wary of taking it out with all of the snow/ ice/ slush and people in SUVs driving recklessly like it's beautiful and sunny and dry outside. And, my car looks like crap with all of the road salt, etc. Thinking about getting a Wrangler to drive on days like today.
Currently have a '13 C2S and am considering trading to a Boxster S...I love the driving the 911 but also love the looks and feel of the Boxster. I am worried about regretting that move...any thoughts now that you have owned both?
My wheel time in the C4 has been maybe a couple of hours so, in comparing it to the 981 Boxster S, I'll just say that the 991 C4 seems noticeably more powerful in terms of torque and is a more refined sports car. The 981 Boxster S with the 6-speed MT is pure enjoyment. The car is light, but feels solid and planted on the road and the mid-engine affords the car perfect balance. You literally feel like the car can take a 90-degree turn and not be upset. Give the 981 Boxster S high revs and it will provide you the ride of your life. Also, because of the mid-engine, there is ample space in the front and rear boots. In my opinion, the 981 is an engineering marvel and the best-looking convertible in the Porsche line-up. Speaking of it being a convertible, though, visibility in the thing sucks with the top up.
I find the same visibility issues in my 991 cab. I think I would love the handling of the Boxster but wonder if I would miss the aggressive feel of the 911.
After a bit of highway driving yesterday morning and just a short while ago I can perceive a much significant difference between the C4 and 981 Boxster S. The C4 has loads more torque...so much more that learning to control the torque is really mastering the car. The exhaust note is tremendously more as well. Point the C4 and that's where is goes. The steering feel is all there...you can literally feel the weight of the front wheels.
After a bit of highway driving yesterday morning and just a short while ago I can perceive a much significant difference between the C4 and 981 Boxster S. The C4 has loads more torque...so much more that learning to control the torque is really mastering the car. The exhaust note is tremendously more as well. Point the C4 and that's where is goes. The steering feel is all there...you can literally feel the weight of the front wheels.
The C4 is a fantastic car . I would have been tempted to keep both cars . In fact I did in fact keep my AWD Turbo . Congrats !!!

The capabilities of the chassis and the overall integration of the engine, trans, and suspension are so good that you need to get some time (and some PCA DE instruction) to begin to appreciate what you have. You can only imagine (make that *should* only imagine) what the car can do in street driving.
This in no way a put down of the 981. Boxters and Caymans are phenomenal and very close to the 991 in more ways than 991 owners who have not been in one can understand, and have their own advantage. Its just that Porsche has endowed the 991 with more usable power and advanced that inherent 911 presence once again.
