stupid things I do

“Why buy a trunk liner? I won’t need it.”

Unless of course I decide to pick up a bunch of King Crab legs for our Valentine’s Day dinner. And then they leak... in the trunk.

It is awful. Gone is the wonderful smell of leather and burning rubber. Replaced with the smell of the Deadliest Catch.

Damn it.

You don't have to tell me twice! I am getting on the Suncoast site today!
I hope the crab was at least good - and the seafood! LOL. Baking soda, vacuum that up and carpet fresh - that will help. Otherwise...lemon and butter.

Good luck and really, thanks for the warning!

Oh man, I need to get one. I thought you were going to say the legs bent the lid. Is there anyone that has some sort of cargo netting? I haven't been able to find any.

In the past, I have used inexpensive plastic bins. The large ones fit in the frunk and you can stack them - lids go behind. This is great as they occupy the frunk, but when you unstack them, you have multiples of the storage space - very handy for storing floor mats and other items that must come out of the ****pit during DE and AutoX so that they are not exposed to the elements. Then found smaller ones that fit inside and act as high sided dividers. It helps keep things from moving too far. But, nothing is a perfect fit so the custom liner is now on my to buy before the end of the day list!

Reminds me of the time when I bought a turkey for thanksgiving from Whole Foods that was farm raised, organically fed, etc etc and NOT frozen. Put it in the back of my new 535XI BMW... just to find out the knot came loose at the top of the bag holding the bird and turkey blood and juice had saturated my trunk. Took 6 mos of various methods to get most of the smell out. Even then on a really warm day you can still smell it.

GOOD LUCK!

Suncoast has different ones for the C2S and C4S. Would the 911-50 use the C2S liner or the C4S liner if it has the widebody? Thanks.

Haven't tried this product myself but...gotta believe there's something out there that will help. If your interested, send me a PM and I'll put you in touch with someone who probably has the answer. Think I would set it off at night and leave everything buttoned up till the morning. Hope this helps. I feel ya.

sorry, this one has several decent reviews. Give this a try first. I've used a bunch of CarPro products and generally they are excellent. Guy had milk spill and turned rancid - apparently this stuff eliminated the odor. YMMV but...it's worth a try. But...I'm buying the frunk liner - no questions asked cause what happened to you would definitely happen to me.

Won't the 91 octane dissolve the plastic of the trunk liner and ruin your crab legs?

I knew this would get some good responses. Thank you all for lifting my spirits.

The legs were very delicious. I have a plastic bin that I usually keep in the trunk but took it out because I put a carry on suit case in there and need a little extra room.

The smell is awful. I took my 6 year old daughter to school today. I clipped her in the back booster seat and shut the door. I walked around and got in. She looked right at me and accused me are farting. Nice kid.

I have decided to just set fire to the car and get rid of the smell that way.

Two most beautiful words on the Sun Coast Website - "In Stock". Shipping out tomorrow $198 delivered. Again, thanks for letting us benefit from your...powerful lesson! Seriously, best of luck. If you can use something to deodorize and leave the trunk lid up in the garage for a week, you should be all right. Think of having the carpet liner replaced.

I have been driving around this the trunk open for a couple of days now. Pretty sure that will get rid of the smell. Although I am not sure why everyone is waving at me.
