ParkSensor or no ParkSensor
ParkSensor or no ParkSensor
Trying to finalize a build and not sure whether ParkSensor is worth it. I don't have it in my current 991Base but it is a manual and my wife doesn't drive it...my new S will be PDK so she might sneak it out of the garage once in a while so I am not sure if it's worthwhile paying for it. Is it an option everyone loves to have or wishes they never got? How do people feel about the circles on the bumpers....hate me or do they go unnoticed after a while....
Its a silly option that looks ugly.
No benefit in such a small car.
If you get it, you will just find it works no better than your own judgement.
Nothing wrong with a back-up camera though, if one was available.

If it were a cabriolet, no question get the sensors as rear visibility is marginal at best with top up. I have the back up camera in the Turbo and again, a must have if/when available in future models ESPECIALLY with the cabriolet.
My office parking space is quite tight and I do find the front sensor very helpful. Rear is a must in the Cab.

I'll throw in the opposite opinion. I have them and would order them again.
I wish they weren't so visible and admit that a rear camera would be better aesthetically, but I live in NYC and street park in some tight spots regularly. The sensors give me the peace of mind to park my MT car in a tight spot on a hill without worrying about getting a small nick in my bumper cover and a repaint.

Order them.. They have value, and they work nicely, especially if you have tight parking situations..
Most of the naysayers who say they don't work correctly don't really understand what they are for and how they work. They don't detect low curbs you are going to scrape on nor will they catch a toy laying in the driveway.. That's just not how they work, they are designed to detect stationary objects in front or behind like walls, cars etc..
There was one *hole here who made a lame statement on a thread stating that if you need them you shouldn't drive a 911.. It depends on how you use your car (mines a DD that goes everywhere)..
You'll appreciate them when you are stuck in a funky garage structure and been boxed in by someone..
If you just drive your car on weekends, and rarely park other than in your 4000 sq foot warehouse garage then yeah of course you don't need them..
They are just one more tool to have, you can live with out them... but then again they are nice to have..
