I agree with Serge - it did sound a lot like sour grapes from someone who cannot or will not buy one.

That said, I will say that some of the options seem a bit high in price. Not like the optional paint for the 918 which is $60,000+, but still high. And some of the things that are options, should be standard - the standard seats, for example, which are manual. Really? voice command? It was in my $20K Subaru.

Oh well, I came, I paid, I drive, I love it.

First time P owner. Bought a new C4S Cab off the lot ($137.000.00) and I couldn't believe it didn't have keyless entry. I thought back to how long it had been since I bought a car without it and it was 2004. I'm in and out of 3 different cars that I own and every time I get in the Porsche and have to reach into my pocket to retrieve the key its an irritant. I know I had the choice not to buy it, but that's not the point. At this price point, it should have been included.

"Buying virtually any new car today is a display of relative wealth. How much wealth do you want to display?"

Sure, but doesn't this apply to practically everything these days? From you smartphone, to house, to clothing. To the meals we eat. Because end of the day, we can all survive on very bare minimums.

Could we? Interesting concept but I'm not sure that is possible. I don't think cars are demonstrations of wealth or I should say I don't drive cars with that purpose. Porsche is the only company that I know that will charge more for less equipment. I'm not complaining but it is a significant part of their business model and we all play with the configurator trying to figure out what toys we can go without. It's a part of the marriage to P-cars.

For a buyer like myself I prefer to see all of the options available and there price. I ordered my car with only the options that I wanted and no more, like I would have if I bought one on hand. If the price is too high for the value I perceive for that option I weight it and decide whether or not to buy that option. If you want it you buy it if not do not !
