Oh, come on Porsche: not again
Keeperofbeasts... Panny, X6!
I too am a Panny owner. I guess when you can own one of them, you become somewhat more tolerant of the looks of other cars and look beyond just the looks. I love my panny and it is outstandingly crafted within and drives great....but I have to admit it is not the prettiest thing on the road - it sure is imposing and can not be missed, but not really pretty.

I love how my panny looks - but then again I love the hatchback look (I know I am strange) but I like to be different
the regular sedan look does not appease me me anymore
I couldnt agree more. I bought my wife a QX80 because of the room.. she couldnt be happier.

You should actually be somewhat happy this is the direction the company is taking. Porsche is no longer a boutique company only making world class sports cars. Because of the Cayenne, the Panamera, and soon the Macan, Porsche can spend dump more money into the sports cars that you like to drive.

Porsche isn't a boutique company. It's now owned by VW. And as such, it could well be just a brand which sells sports cars for VW while they rely on Skoda, VW, Audi to sell "mainstream" cars. So maybe our logic is flawed?
I stated before that as long as these non-core models provide the basis to continue to support Porsche's development of sports cars, I'm ok with it. But in retrospect, I wonder if we're not fooling ourselves.

This is the exact question I have been asking since I became a P owner some years ago. Given their profit picture and the "high-end" nature of their products I could never understand the apologists in discussions regarding P's non-core car functionality (dated, buggy, overpriced technology), poor fit of some components (door panels), etc. Maybe it is just the nature of them evolving from a driving experience only, niche company to a "General Motors Brand-driven" more models, more volume company. It just seems they have lost some of their "glow"; but I don't know what else is out there because what they do with the core car is still pretty darn top of the mark stuff.
But it all comes down to personal preference.. And it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks if you are happy
I think Porsche headed the wrong direction when they build the Panny, so ugly it hurts. X6, ZDX, crosstours, the original Cayennes are all ugly cars. But what do I know, when I see a Porsche on the road, 99% of the time it's Cayennes and Pannies. I'm the one with the strange looking Porsche.
Im sure parent company VW/Audi group will want to maximize on the Porsche brand and will dump as much of this garbage as possible while their marketing department will spin and spin it till ppl want it. Just like the Macan….I can't believe that ppl are lining up for small unusable SUV that they think will drive like a 911.
It's an issue of if creating all of these SUV's and 4 door sedans diminishes the "brand" of Porsche.
To a lot of us, Porsche is about performance and sports cars.. And anything outside of that tends to devalue the legacy..
In reality as long as they build great sports cars, it won't matter.. but it still makes me cringe seeing Porsche diluted as such to non-sports cars. But it is inevitable since VW naturally wants to capitalize on the legacy. I hope they just don't kill it..

Why'd you hide your "Ford" logo??
