Does your fuel economy improve with time?
Yeah, I agree with the comments that the mileage is all over the place depending with how you drive.. Honestly it is the first car I'm never quite sure how much mileage (and range) I'm going to get since I rarely drive in exactly the same way twice.
But I do agree when you get out on the highway and are just cruising at typical highway traffic speeds in normal, while in 7th gear the mileage is pretty amazing. Going to take a long drive in a few weeks and will experiment to see what it is capable of getting.

Averaged 25.6 over 35000 miles. Usually 33 plus on highways. 9 on track
Yeah, I found myself at first "stabbing" at the throttle at times just slighly.. just to hear it grumble..
I get right at 20 mpg on a generally stop-and-go 13 mile commute from one side of the island up a smallish mountain and down the other side. Better by almost 5 mpg compared with my 2008 BMW 650i!
I have 6,700 miles on it and have only owned it for the last 1,000 miles and 2 months.
Aloha,
Mike

Mine must because yesterday I noticed I was a shade over half a tank and the DTE in my trip computer said 306 miles. Took a picture of it with my phone to show my dealer in case something is FUBAR.
I have no idea about MPG, I've never been concerned with it in my life (I don't even know where to look on the car), I just fill up and go.
But this car does go through gas a lot, the tank is small and I find the warning light gets overexcited. One minute I have 1/2 tank and the next thing I know it's dinging with warning lights for gas, haha. I do drive the car very hard, all of the time--that's why I bought it!
I want to say when I fill up, it shows a total distance of like 180mls on the screen somewhere, my 6.2L c63 was about the same

I find that the car gets great MPG on long highway cruises. However, my daily commute consists mainly of city style stop and go driving with a bit of highway where I can open it up a bit. I venture I get abt 13-15 MPG at best. When I fill up my tank, the trip computer has "learned" to show about 220 miles to empty.
I think I'm starting to see evidence of improved mpg but it's subtle... I'm guessing 5-10% (very hard to tell due to all the variables as others have mentioned). here's how I've determined the improvement;
I zeroed my trip data as new (12 miles on the clock) and broke the car in carefully but using varied revs to 4krpm for the first 1800 miles.... Averaging 25.7mpg. My DD is relatively predictable in terms of roads, traffic conditions etc. and a lot of it is motorway driving. After completing break-in at 1800miles i have purposely opened up much more using all the revs under hard acceleration and kick down... which from experience in my AMG on the same journeys would push the average mpg over a long period down circa 3 mpg (still a lot of motorway driving so nothing too radical).... Now 400 miles after break-in my average mpg on the same trip counter without reset is still 25.7 mpg ... so either the gauge is stuck
or the fuel consumption is improving (relative to my driving style getting harder)... I'll keep an eye on this to 3600 miles so i get even before and after mileage and report back if it shows anything of interest. Sorry for ramble...

My average, calculated at every fill-up, is 21 MPG (very consistently).
That matches the trip computers 22 MPG calculation, over the last 3000 miles.
Its a mixed city/highway average and always in Sport Mode w/ PDK in Auto.
By comparison, the E63 averages 15 MPG, with the same driving style, settings and use.
I run low tire pressure, because I like grip, so I get why some are reporting better mileage.

It's just so much fun!
