I will not even charge you for the storage or replacement brake pads.

So long as you don't mind me sleeping in it while it's down there!

Just ran across this. Have never seen anything like it. Not sure what to make of it? Seems bizarre?

If it's pulling air in and doing air exchanges as described, I'm sure it's still pulling dust inside??

If you decide to purchase FlatStoppers, we offer them, for more information Click Here. Have you had snow yet? Lowest it's gotten so far here has been 38F. Not sure I'm ready for Winter yet.

Here is a picture that gives you a better understanding of the Dimensions of each.

I'm like 6 hours north of you.

Thanks

  • Battery tender: the Tequipment one seems to have a good rep online. The dealer included it with my car. Plug and forget?

YES - PLUG AND FORGET IT. SOME PEOPLE REMOVE THE BATTERY AND CHARGE IT INDOORS BUT I THINK THAT'S OVERKILL.
  • Indoor car covers: I'm pretty worried about scratching as I put it on or off, especially after reading some of Matt's advice. Also, my garage can get a bit humid as my other vehicles bring in snow melt. Is the Porsche indoor cover a good pick?

I LIKE COVERKING (FOR MY 912) BUT I'M SURE THE PORSCHE BRAND IS FINE TOO. JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET ONE THAT BREATHES WELL AND HAS A SOFT LINER. FLANNEL IS A GOOD CHOICE. REMEMBER, THE ONLY PURPOSES IS TO KEEP DUST OFF, WHICH SCRATCHES. MAKE SURE THE CAR IS COOL BEFORE YOU PUT THE COVER ON.
  • Fuel and oil prep: is a fuel stabilizer necessary? I was thinking I'd book the oil change in the Spring v. Autumn.

DEFINITELY USE STABILIZER. PROPER PROCEDURE IS TO ADD THE STABILIZER, FILL THE TANK TO MIX THE STABILIZER, DRIVE A FEW MILES TO MIX THE STABILIZER INTO THE INJECTORS ETC. THEN STORE.
  • Tire blocks: do you guys use tireblocks, jacks, or do you just leave it on the cement and move it occasionally?

INFLATE TO 50PSI AND LEAVE ALONE. OTHER METHODS WORK TOO BUT THIS IS EASY AND WORKS.

If you are always opening and closing the garage door and creating condensation often, you might consider a CarBag (Google it), but otherwise the above should suit you fine.

It's intended for classic cars, where rust due to humidity is an issue. IMO, the better solution (which I use) is a CarBag, but it's not needed for a modern car.

That's getting up there. I do look forward to the upcoming snowmobile season though. We've used them on our company cars and so far they've been great.

Oh man... yeah, we had about 6 inches a little over a week ago - all gone now. We're back into the 60's F. Wet heavy snow that surprised all the trees here, which still had all their leaves. Tons of damage across the city from fallen branches and the like. My golf course called it 'devastation' - clearly no earthquakes to deal with here.

Thanks for the link on the FlatStoppers - I'll definitely fire some business your way. Do you ship to Canada?

Yikes! We had a some wind about a month ago that took out a lot of tree's in the area, but the wet snow is the worst. Hopefully we still have a good month or so of golf to be had before Winter really starts knocking.

Yes we do. We offer a few different options you can choose from in the check out to calculate shipping. Feel free to PM me any time with any questions or concerns.

If you simply roll the car a foot or two back and forth once a month it eliminates flat spotting. I've done this for many years on my stored vehicles. The curved flat-spotter solutions work, but are a real pain IMO.

Yikes already thinking of storing, sorry to hear that.

1. Top off the tank, I do use gas stabilizer
2. Overinflate tires, I use rubber mats from Lowes/Home Depot
3. I do wax the car and then use a car cover
4. Of course the usual battery tender, have been using one from Sears for a long time no issues.

5. Another thing not sure where you store you car, I put steel wool pads in the exhaust just in case of small critters. Car is in a heated garage.
6. I also put it in neutral, and block the wheels.

Have been doing this for 4 years with Porsches, and for many years with my previous Corvettes. Seems to work well. Toughest part is walking by the car and waiting for spring.

Good luck!!

Winter in Calgary

Charcharius: I got my 991 C2 last November, plugged the same trickle charger supplied by the dealer, parked it in my un-heated garage for the winter. Tires were NOT over-inflated, car started perfectly and no tire problems five months later when the roads were clear here in Calgary.
