I had installed this myself and the hardest part to me is the programming wire you touch the yellow and red wire 5 times. I found that you have to try this several times.

I called the folks at NAV TV and they recommended that when you touch the wire hold contact for one second and release. Wait another second to touch wire again. The other thing that help was to allow the radio to fully boot up before touching the wire to program.

Hope that helps. If not call the guys at NAV TV they were helpful.

@Cpages2 - Go back to your installer and have them check power to the camera. If they wired the camera power by tapping-in to the back-up or tail lights (I believe that is common practice) the camera would behave similar to what you've described. Since you do see the camera on when in reverse, I would rule out that the NAV-TV and interface modules are installed incorrectly.

So let's focus on this being a power-to-camera issue:

Your description leads me to believe your camera isn't getting power the way others have described in this forum.... In other words, unless you have the car in reverse position, the camera is "Off"/ no power. So when you go to menu in PCM the "Observe Surrounding" message is displayed without the camera image because that text is generated by the NAV-TV module and NOT the camera.

This would also explain why the camera is on when you are in reverse, but as soon as you move the PDK out of reverse the camera shuts-off. Because most of us (self-installers anyways) have run power to camera differently, we see the camera on even when out of reverse, and in fact we can force the camera on even while driving at any time.

I may be wrong, but that is the first place to look. I would recommend you tell your installer to wire power to the battery or other source if this is what has happened, and you don't like how they've wired it up.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Trying to do the install tonight. Read over all the instructions and plenum's tutorial. Only thing I'm confused about is the Pulse within 10 seconds instruction. Within 10 seconds of what? One of the other posts here stated to wait until the radio had fully booted up. Would that be more than 10 seconds?

Again, I think the pulsing thing is the most confusing part.

Thanks for your help!

sansan- the timing reference is to the length of time from first touching the wires to last touch. So, simply begin counting to 10 upon first touch, roughly completing a touch per second.... and depending on how many pulses your installation requires, you should be done by the time you count to 10. 10 seconds should be more than enough time.

Kinda like -
Start
touch -- 1
touch -- 2
touch -- 3
touch -- 4
touch -- 5
Stop
Assuming you don't have the MF steering wheel? If you do, then you can program from the wheel buttons I believe. Good Luck!

Hmm... I have a 2013 C4S Cabriolet and I'm realizing it's not quite as easy to get to the back of the vehicle. Anyone else do this before that may be able to offer up some advice?

I've got the wire run to where the convertible top stores, but not sure how to get to the exterior of the car at this point.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thread is back from the dead... Very excited about this mod, but am wondering if there is a suggested way to get the camera wiring to the back with a cabrio top.

Looks good except for the appearance of the licence plate edges. Is it possible to tilt the camera out a bit to avoid that??

Has anyone experienced the picture flickering when applying throttle? I'm assuming it's due to the lack of voltage in the wire labeled output 1. The recommendation is to add a relay and get power from a constant battery source.
If anyone has any recommendations if there's a better wire to tap into and or how to wire up a relay?
Much appreciated!
