I've got to give it to you, you made that black pop! Amazing! I haven't gotten past the "regular" wash into polishes, waxes and sealants...this is an inspiration.
+1 on how you got this result in 6 hours. A big drawback for me has always been the expected 2-3 days time required to achieve desired results. If results like yours can be had in 6 hours, I'd be more apt to dive in!
Please don't post any more pics, you are making us with the white ones feel bad! I absolutely love your car, SpotDesign package, wheels, the whole thing. It has a classic sporty 911 look to it.
I spent the weekend detailing the car as well, but it's so hard to see the results on white...after 10 years of all white cars I think I'm going black or red next time for sure! Red on the GT3 or black on the TurboS
Thanks everyone!
It looks even better in person, the black is so slick and clean you can see the orange peel in the paint (not as bad as my c63 was, but still).
Not sure where the 6 hours came from, but a typical wash and dry for me is about 3 hrs (rims taking up most of the time) and the final wipe down includes a quick detail as well.
This time around, I did spot polishing on a few areas on the front and sides from bug guts (it was not a whole car polish, that can take a whole night easily). Then I follow up the next morning with PowerLock from Menzerna and then a quick detail (or the spray wax I used this time) and then it's glass cleaner on the windows and tire sealant (quick detail) and dressing (303).
All in, it probably took a total of 7-8 hrs over two days (my back can't handle much more than a few hrs per day anymore).
The car really needs a total polishing and there are a few spots that are still slightly swirled from the dealer prep a year ago--it's only visible in direct sunlight and I can live with it these days.
If there were any trusted detailers in my town I'd have it done up professionally, but the closest pro is about 2hrs away and I'd have to leave the car there--too much hassle.
Plus, I can hack away and make her look pretty nice
I love the Sport design front end so much on our cars and with SPASM I still haven't rubbed too bad, but I'm careful.
The ducktail is a very divided thing, people either love it or hate it, I'm obviously in the first camp and I think it adds a little flair to the car without being over the top like a GT3 (although I think the GT3 is hot and works on that car)
Drove my girl today and gave her some exercise, people were definitely noticing the shiny beast rolling down the road
Entered my black 2014 911 Carrera yesterday in a Concours event at a private airfield in Cumming, Georgia. Took me more than a week to get it ready including claying and waxing. I was entered in the Tour class so every inch of my 991 was checked. Scored 234.2 point out of a total possible of 235 and came in first in my class. Deductions were for minor items like a small amount of dust on the battery tray, a piece of microfiber towel in the seat crevice, and a small amount of dust on the engine cover. I know what you are thinking. Who wants to spend that many days getting a car prepared for a Concours event when you could be out driving the hell out of it. I am afraid I don't have a good answer for you other than I have always been **** so it fits right in with my personality. Thankfully, the Concours are over until April/May of next year so I can actually drive the hell out of my new 991.
Geez, I don't know what you guys are doing that takes 6 hours, much less 3 days!!! You must have some pretty beat-up cars.
OP, nice job!
Back to the OT: it takes me maybe 45 minutes to wash the car including the wheels, inside and out, including a vacuum of the interior. I do it at least bi-weekly (it's a part-time DD). Every-other time I'll do the glass and do the interior. If there are any paint issues, I attack them at that time, so maybe an extra 15 minutes for spot treatments. Then every few months it gets a light polish and wax which can't take me more than an hour or two. Now, I don't mask off the plastic bits and since the car is washed so frequently it's really not all that dirty. If it's during the warmer months with sap and such occasionally dropping on it, it will get a clay treatment, but my gosh that only takes another 15 or 20 minutes.
Here it is, after a recent wash and wax. That's amaranth red metallic, in case anyone was wondering.

Nice job!! Looks great. I detailed mine yesterday ... Am still sore from it
"Messaged" zymol glasur for Porsche on my GT Silver C4S..man it's like a glass surface now. Highly recommended. Started at 2pm and finally finished at 6pm. Includes individual wheel / calipers wash followed by car wash via Chemical brothers car wash/wax,dry and then detail.
Great job, love the wheels and the wing.
I've been using a lot of the Griots products with great success. Just used their sealant and my new favorite wax, Meguiars Hi-Tech 26.
Dirt doesn't stick and I seem to go much longer between washes
Super sweet! Hope I see you on the road somewhere in MA! I had a bunch of black and red cars and have now gone to white. My back and shoulders are thanking me Also have been using Ultima Paint Guard Plus and loving the results!!
