The dumbest 991 drivers
The dumbest 991 drivers
I really hate wannabes who want a 911 just so they can say they have one, but no nothing about the vehicle. Anyways, check this out. I went to an eatery by myself and I overheard another guy sitting close to me talking to his friend about his new Porsche. When his friend left, I struck up a conversation with him:
Me: So you have a 911 eh, is it the newer 991 model or 997?
Guy: Oh, its a 2013 997
Me thinking to myself: huh?
Me: So did you get the base rims?
Guy: Ya. <he shows me a picture>.
Me thinking to myself: he's got the classic rims
Me: Did you get the PSE option in yours?
Guy: Yes. It's got all the bells and whistles and it makes it handle well. It's top of the line.
Me thinking to myself: gotta get out of here

Porsche as a company would not exist without 'wannabe's. You should thank him for helping to subsidize their R&D and allowing them to continue to bring great products to the market.
hahaha!
I had a talk with guy that owns a 911-50 at a motorshow:
Him: Is your car PDK or PSE?
Me: PDK is a gear type and PSE are exhausts
Him: No my friend, PDK is manual gear and PSE is automatic gear.
I swear I burst in laughs infront of him and asked him to get his info straight before ever opening his mouth again

Unfortunately a lot of people who buy cars, even Ferrari's etc.. aren't enthusiasts.
I admit it took me quite a while to educate myself on the 911 with all the options and abbreviations. Still learning some new things. I just did alot of reading to educate myself (especially forums!). I'd rather get my facts straight before shooting off my mouth.
Don't expect every guy driving a nice car to be an expert on it. I'm not sure what the percentage the enthusiast crowd is? I'd say 20% or less.

On the other hand, ask me about an Aston, Lamborghini, or some other exotics and I'm clueless.
It really takes ALOT of time to actually be educated on these fine vehicles. I only have time for Porsche!! Takes up enough of my day! Ha ha.

I wonder if he knows the difference between "know" and "no"...
In conclusion, I have a low tolerance for dumb posts on here that could be answered just by doing some basic research. People are just lazy these days and want everything handed to them.
Have nothing against a guy wanting to learn about Porsche or the 911, but do a little homework first.
Like .. What the difference between the 997 and 991? How many articles have been written about that? Plenty. Read a little please!
As far as a guy you run into that owns a Porsche and knows little about it, whatever. It's their money and they can buy what they want without being a car nut.
Just like the soccer Mom's I see driving Cayenne Turbo's! They will never use the SUV to its potential and know nothing about it rather than the badge. Funny? Irritating? Sad? A waste? Yes to all .. But whatever.

Salesmen have a field day with these type of buyers... Telling them that their car is "top of the line" and "with all the trimmings..."
Little do they know its possible to option out a base so i costs as much as a turbo.
Wait till you meet a salesmen who knows nothing, that will especially grind your gears... And since most of them are selling cayenne's and macans these days its a likely scenario.
