Sure thing, its not a difficult job, but you should know that the most difficult part is finding a fuse slot which will turn your detector on and off with the ignition. It may require a bit of trial and error therefore do not put everything back together until you have tested your installation with the ignition. You can use a meter and find an available switched circuit, since there are plenty of open slots. My recollection is that there is an ununsed circuit in the passenger side fuse box (Row D position 2). I think this fuse box is far more convenient than taping into the mirror power.

Running the wire is not difficult, just be gentle and use something soft like a rubber spatula to remove weather stripping and carpet around the fuse box. I used the telephone cord that came with my V1 since it was easy to run along the edge of the headliner and A pillar. The only part of the wire that is exposed is near the rear view mirror to allow access to the detector.

Finally, if you are using a V1, think about SAVVY (see www.valentine1.com/savvy/). It plugs into the OBD port and it hides the power cord. If you go this route, I would be curious to hear about your experience.

Good luck!

PERFECT POWER

Like many of you, I have not been driving the 911 in the winter. However, the snow has melted and we've had several good rains to wash away any remaining salt. I decided it was time to give the 911 a good wash and change the oil (even though it was not required) in honor of the new driving season!

I appreciate having a good independent shop on hand to help with routine maintenance and I have read great things about Perfect Power in Buffalo Grove, IL. I need a shop that understands Porsches and cares for my car with the same attention to detail as I do. Although my experience was limited to an oil change, Sol (the owner) and his staff took great care of my car and gave me a tour of their facility. As you can see, they have some exceptional automobiles and a beautiful facility.

We are fortunate in Chicago to have great indys and honest dealers. I plan to add perfect power to my list of shops for repeat business.

If you been following my thread, I have been working on getting a flush look and decided to contact Adaptec for some 7mm spacers (front) and 15mm spacers (rear).

At the same time, I also removed my stock Carrera S silver wheels and have them professionally painted to a Platinum Satin finish. I was extremely careful about picking someone who was a professional, highly recommended, and guaranteed their work (see my earlier post about Sergey's House of Wheels). Serge was very detailed oriented and informed me that the plastic center caps would not match perfectly. He recommended that I purchase the colored crested center caps that were painted from the factory if I wanted the perfect match. Its a good match in person, but I may elect to purchase the color crested caps.

Here is the end result and I am very happy with the wheels and the spacers. Now I need to wash the car!

Beautiful. As OCD as I am I would paint the brake rotor hats to match. I hate the rusted look. Getting mine done in a few weeks

Great point! I'll add it to the list. We did this on my wife's Cayenne and it really sets off the car nicely.

In case anyone needs to see a pic of the wheels with spacers, here is one (not in my garage) following my obligatory first wash this spring 👍
