rear spoiler for 991
He is correct. Spoilers are for downforce, and if you push the rear end down without compensating with an equal force up front (i.e., splitter) then the front end will become lighter and it will knock off top speed. I know first hand, did that to my BMW M3 and lost 3 to 4 mph off my top end at the track and screwed up the handling at speed. Put a splitter on the front and the handling was returned back to normal, but still lost my top end down the long straights.
And unless you run a very firmed up suspension and sticky R-Compound rubber or slicks, then you can't take advantage of any added downforces in the corners as street tires lose their grip way-way-WAY before aerodynamics kick in.

For example, the first generation Audi TTs were known for having high-speed stability problems on the autobahn particularly on turns. People were actually dying in car crashes as a result. I lived in Germany during this time. Audi's fix was to add that small rear spoiler you see on them now to give it more stability. They did not add a front-splitter.

I did not say that it cannot adversely affect stabilty, but that it does not always do so. In some cases it will increase stability, even without a front splitter.
does the speed art wobble at high speeds when the spoiler is up?
where can you buy it, i thought they went out of business

Correct, out of business- got mine from Serge ATL- had it refinished in agate.
Upon further review... According to their website and an online info, speedart is back in business and out of bankruptcy. The website appears to be up to date.
We have done quite a few different spoilers on there.
Here is the most recent one. 991 Targa 4S where we had the Vorsteiner Rear Spoiler Painted/Installed. I think its a very classy addition.

Another option is going with the TechArt Type III Spoiler which we have done quite often as well.

The other option is going with the TechArt Type I Spoiler.

I had it installed and permanently bonded. Tape is supposed to be fine I just wanted more insurance.
thanks
Because I'm **** about it looking right, no. I have a body shop in my area that works on high end cars and I hade them do it. Took less than an hour with a little dry time. Have never had an issue and I like the look. Like it with the black wheels and exhaust tips.
Looks great! thanks for the info!
