Porsche Carrera black edition

Hello everyone. I've just noticed on porsche website that there is a new version of 911 available. (black edition). I really like it because a lot of things are either standard or no cost option. Only thing I couldn't figure out is parking sensors with rear view camera . It's not listed under standard equipment and it's not available under exterior options either. Any idea what's the reason it's not offered ?

On the configurator if you click on standard features and scroll down a bit, you'll see that park assist (front/rear) w/ reversing camera is standard. I agree the black edition seems like a very good value if you're looking for a base car and want to get the last of the NA flat 6 engines.

Yes you are correct. I just noticed it is standard . My current car on order is the carrera S with msrp 121k and this black edition i built comes heavily equipped at $106k. Lease wise it's $305 cheaper than an S . And with more equipment . What you think ? Should I stick to S or switch it to black edition

I had a 997 Black Edition and loved it. I assume it will have a numbered plate near the glove box which makes it special. If you are considering one go for it you will love it.

The extra equipment is nice (as is the $300/ month savings) but in my view, the 3.8L engine in the S is worth the extra beans. You don't want to wind up with a well equipped car that you think could use some extra grunt, and rue not going with the S. I don't think anyone who has a S regrets not getting a base car.

Porsche Black Edition

The Black Edition seems to be presented as a 2016 model. I thought that the 991.2 FI cars would be presented as 2016's. Could there be overlap between 991s and 991.2s within the same model year? How long do you think that Black Editions, particularly C4s, will be available or that special orders for them will be accepted? Any ideas as to whether 991 C4s will continue to be available for awhile after 991.2 C2s are available?

I am considering moving forward from my 2013 base C2 before its warranty expires and would like as much information as possible on my options. I am particularly interested in a base model C4. The increased power of the S would obviously be nice, but probably not worth the associated expense and additional complexity to me. Given hybrids on the horizon, long-term ownership of my next 911 is a very strong possibility and I would like to minimize possible post-warranty service problems by avoiding complexity as much as possible.

A $305 lease saving for a $15k difference in msrp seems high. The lease saving amounts to 2% of the difference in msrp. A lease payment of 2% of msrp would not be reasonable.

Here is how i came up with $300 difference.
Based on current lease program.
Carrera S
MSRP $121295
Discount 8.75%
Selling price $110682
Residual 12k/year 69%
Money factor .00200
24 months term
$1513 plus 8% tax $1649
Min drive off plus bank fee upfront

And the carrera black edition
Msrp as built to be equal or more equipped $106400
Selling price $97090
Residual value is a guess based on
standard carrera is 71% for 24M 12k
Monthly payment
$1243 plus tax 8% $1354.
Even if the residual value for special edition model is lower than standard by 2% the payment becomes $1453 including tax and beats the S by $200.

I am very interested in the apparent difference between the Msrp and Selling price of approximately 9.5%. Is the dealer actually willing to offer this discount?

I am relatively inexperienced in Porsche negotiations. If I could negotiate a similar discount in the New Jersey or Pennsylvania, I would be ready to proceed with a Black Addition C4 order.

Yes. After a month long negotiations with 9 southern California dealers i was able to get 8.75% off on 911 base, S, or cayman GTS. whichever I pick. Black edition is new in the lineup so I can't say my CA will honor 8.75 % off but i don't see a reason not to. Specially with cayman gts and 911S being 8.75% off. The deal is already locked at 8.75% off from msrp $121295.

Hi saala,

I've been trying to get a good deal with a Carrera Black Edition or Cayman GTS in Southern California also. I have just started my search and the best quote I've been able to get is 4.5% off MSRP for Carrera Black Edition and 5% off MSRP for Cayman GTS.

Your negotiating skills are better than mine. Would you be willing to share which dealers are offering 8.75% either here or send you a PM. Appreciate any help or insight in securing a better deal.

It was just a simple email from edmunds price quotes to all 9 dealerships and with just two or three emails back and forth I got my dream payment. So I would say it was not too much of my time . Part of the month was spent choosing exterior color and options more than the selling price.

Good for you, that is a banging discount, especially on an ordered car.
