Service, Like least, like most
Service, Like least, like most
Over the three years of 991 ownership i've had to occasionally drop off the car for routine or warranty service. My dealer has a pleasant showroom where I wander and think about dropping another 150k or so on a brand new car with limited increase or similar abilities and appearance of the car I own.
That said, the trip to the toy store wears thin after a while (not withstanding an always good conversation with Alex or Drew at Porsche of Delaware - a well earned plug here)..in addition, conversations with the techs are always enlightening.
What I find i enjoy the most is the opportunity to sample the rides they provide for loaners if the car has a sleepover. Over the years I found that I do not like the Pannys...S, 4, Turbo or plain jane...they are in my humble opinion, boring and big, but they seem to attract attention wherever I drive. Folks stop me and ask about the car when I fill it up, stop for coffee or the like. Still, it's not for me.
The Cayenne surprised me. I've driven an S, Hybrid and a Diesel. They were all well sorted and a surprising pleasure to drive. They Hybrid seemed to be the least capable handling of the three, the S and Diesel were both very good drivers. My favorite was the Diesel. It pulled like a train, surprising power in every gear and supplied a remarkable 34 mpg highway - could not be coaxed to deliver less than 28 mpg in stop and go, nail it, stop it driving. Quite impressive.

I had a Cayenne Diesel for a couple of days, and I was surprised by how much I liked it. Comfortable, endless pull from low RPMs (read, perfect daily driving partner), and utility (compared to the 911).
It's a plot I tell you. They gave me a Cayenne Diesel as well as a service loaner and I didn't want to give it back. As soon as my Toyota Tundra pickup is off-lease, one of those are going to be my daily winter driver. Tremendously comfortable, smooth (for an SUV), quiet, capable and pretty quick.
That's how you sell cars to your established base. They used to send me out in a C class Benz loaner, which is nothing more than a tarted up Camry, now they use Porsches and made a sale in 22 more months.

Porsche gets it right, the service advisor is always willing and eager to talk. I don't get the Toyota chinese menu of service options and i'm always welcome in the service bay.
the cost of service at toyota is actually higher per hour than is Porsche. you feel as if you are in steerage when you wait for your car as opposed to first class at Porsche....
There is no comparison between the ride experience in the two vehicles....have I been spoiled, well I guess so.

Wait until you drive a Macan. I had a Cayenne Turbo, which was awesome. I now have a Macan Turbo, which really does drive and handle much better, albeit smaller cargo capability. Try one as a loaner if given the chance.
