Unkown part

I had my car detailed and when I got it back I noticed this part sitting on my seat. I called them and asked what happened they said they found it under the passenger seat. The seat operates with no issues still. Any clue what this part is or does?

Tks.

That appears to be one of the infamous change-over valves.... That part number is the "C" variant. Others have had issue with "B" variant, etc. Do a search on this and other boards, and you'll learn more than you ever wanted to know about it -- and the issues. There are 7 or 8 of these throughout the car, and control things like valves for the exhaust, heat flow to the cabin, etc.

Curious that it was just laying under the seat? Has your car had any COVs replaced previously? If it was laying there, not connected to anything, then it was probably just a forgetful Tech that left it there.... And it it clear that the tension clip that holds it in place (somewhere?) is cracked and probably not usable again...

Hmmm interesting... no valves were changed recently. I did have an issue with the heat not working over the winter wonder if the dealer did something.

That would be it.... Two of the most common issues reported that lead to COV replacement are loss of heat in cabin in winter, and failure of the exhaust control valves (exhaust on S or PSE equipped cars just stays in open or closed mode).

Your dealer prob changed it out for you. But maybe worth checking that your heat is now working???
