991.2 Catchpole first impression

I think he may like it, what with better feel, performance, and hint of air-cooled sound!

I get all 911s will have turbo(s), I can see soon that everyone will be modding their ECUs .. still digging my 4S ... no real commentary here other than not compelling for me to trade ..

Love Catchpole and have been reading Evo since I was a kid.

This may likely turn into another "NA vs turbo" discussion thread, but still... I can't seem to imagine the 3.0T sounding nearly as good during a 2-3-4th gear full throttle experience through a tunnel or canyon. I'm seriously looking forward to test driving these when they hit dealer floors. I'm adamant about sticking to NA engines and adore our 3.8, but I really am curious to feel the 991.2 and see how it feels/sounds at the limit.

Talking who really cares about improved performance anyway

I mostly agree, and also have a lot of respect for Catchpole's reviews. I set out to trade for a Turbo recently and found it so smooth and quiet that my C2S "talked" me out of it.

But I heard the 991.2 S work its way through the gears at Rennsport V. It revs fast and sounds way better than the 991 Turbo going through the gears and on overrun. I could be seriously tempted by the increased torque- and by the rear steering, and sport suspension which he did not have. Marginal performance improvements at this level on public roads are ridiculous, but that's nothing new. Like you say, have to drive one.

There is going to be a huge influx of aftermarket parts for the 991.2 because of this reason. Excited to see what kind of power can be extracted
