991.2 Wheel offset change
991.2 Wheel offset change
I have a new Targa 4S on order and want to use the 50th Anniversary Fuchs style wheel. This wheel is not offered on the Tequipment site to fit the new car. It seems that Porsche changed the offset for 991.2. The old wheel comes in 9 x 20 fronts, with offset 51. Rears are 11.5 x 20 with the offset 48. The new wheel sets are 8.5 x 20 fronts, offset 49. Rears are also 11.5 x 20, offset 56. Both have the same tires. While my dealer says they may clear and work, can they be "right?" They also changed the TPMS sensor frequency, so I would need to replace the sensors as well. So far, no sign of an updated Fuchs type wheel. They do offer a five spoke Carrera Sport wheel in the correct offset, but unfortunately I did not order this wheel with my car and it is too late to change. I am trying to order a set of these to arrive when my new car comes so my dealer can swap, but no availability yet. I think the 50th Anniversary wheel would look great on my Lava Orange car with the PCCB yellow calipers.
Any suggestions?

I'm in same vote just got the sport techno wheels from a 2014
20x9 offset 51
20x11.5 offset 48
Hoping these work went to dealer to ask he said doesn't have spec yet on 2017 either way all you will most likely need is spacers

Just to give you the hard data in case you are just guessing at it. If you fit the old "Fuchs style" wheels to the new car here is what will happen:
Fronts will give you 8mm LESS clearance on the inside and the outside of the wheel will EXTEND by 4mm. I would have to look at the factory setup on the new cars to see if that 8mm less on the inside would be a big issue or not. The 4mm on the outside is within the factory tolerances. The issue that might come up is if you need to use, say a 5mm spacer on the front to clear the calipers or suspension components, you would then be pushing the fronts out 9mm total. Now you are getting to quite a bit, enough that the front tires are certainly going to throw rocks and junk all over the sides of the car. My hunch is that the Fuchs wheel will work as I doubt they changed anything with the suspension or braking hardware to cause it to not work. If you have an issue, there is no easy fix since even machining down the mounting face to increase the offset will bring the wheel back into the fender, but further decrease your clearance on the inside. I would say test mount, turn the wheel and if you have a clearance issue up front, the idea is dead in the water.
Rears will give you 8mm MORE clearance on the inside and the outside of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 8mm. This should work fine with the caveat that those wide 20s sticking out an extra 8mm will likely destroy the paint all around the rear bumper and fender lips. Might not be an issue where you live but I have 20s on my Carrera and it is problem for me, so much so that I will have to repaint my rear bumper in a year or two. Should have put on clear bra. The fix for the rear (provided the fronts work) is just to machine the mounting faces down a few mm to push the wheel back in where you need it. Again, test fit and verify. Maybe the new cars have recontoured fenders and this is all moot. I doubt it since all the press material makes no mention of this.
Sorry for the long-winded response but I know that offsets and wheel/tire fitment can be confusing. Hope it was helpful.
EDIT: Just reread your original post and see that you are getting a Carrera 4s, with wider bodywork in the rear. You will be fine out back so the only concern is the fronts.

I think the 50th wheels would look awesome on your car. Try this site regarding the offset fitment;
