Will my ordered car be a 2018?

I placed my order in January and currently the car is scheduled to arrive at the port in early May. My dealer has a couple 17's on the lot, and the plate on the inside of the door shows a build date of January 2016. With the 991.2 model refresh, is it possible that they will have an 18 month run of 2017's?

I ordered my car on January 17th with a delivery date in mid May. It is a C4 and is a 2017.

Talked to my dealership and there will be a few 2017 991.2's arriving to dealerships. They also told me that 2018's should start arriving between August and October. I'm supposed to be getting my GTS allocation soon so I'll keep you posted. I'm actually coming from a M4 as well. Which 911.2 are you getting?

I am getting a C2 with PDK, sport chrono and a few other Porsche exclusive bits. That's about it.

Unless something has changed. Stuttgart does their model year changeover in Late august (which unfortunately I found out when I tried to take the factory tour a couple years ago). So anything delivered starting in about September is usually the next model year. So that would be 2018's in Sept 2017. That is for same model designations (991, 997 etc).. But when they go to the next model it seems that has been cut in mid year

What do you define as "changeover"? My dealer is waiting for his May allocations. He says that the builds scheduled for June/July usually come in the next morel year as it is about 4 months from order to delivery (give or take), so an October car is usually the next model year. If you have a car already in production now, it will arrive as a 2017.

The way it was described to me was it was when the line retooled for changes between model years... it would be hard for me to argue with what your dealer is telling you, however my experience was that the next year models start building end of August/early September right after the factory shutdown.. I suppose on a given year that could vary, maybe if there were no significant changes between model years is could happen before the shutdown... but June seems really early..

They generally say 4 months although the two builds I've done delivered quicker than that.. From the time my initial order was entered by the configurator there was about 3 or 4 weeks until my build was frozen.. the car was built and put on rails about a month later and made it San Diego about 3 or 4 weeks after that. My total time before delivery was about 3 months..

Until my dealer sees the build date of his May allocations, he won't know whether a car ordered now will be a 2017 or a 2018. He suspects it will be a 2017, with the June allocations being a 2018 MY. I'd like to see my car a month early - it is currently supposed to go V300 (in production) this week with delivery by the dealer in mid May. That would be about 4 months from the time I placed the order in mid January. I should note that my dealer got the allocation from another dealer who had placed an order in December 2016 so that is 5 months from the date of the original order. It "fixed" on March 3rd.

Base Price Increased

Just checked the configurator and noticed the base brice of all 911 series has increased. 4S cab from $122,600 to $124,300. +$1700. Would that be a deal breaker on a 150K toy?

Ordered my 991.2 last week at the old config price... wondering if my dealer will try to bump the pricel up. Does this have anything to do with a model year change?

Thoughts

Yes they are bringing the 2018 model early. The configuration is down currently for all site when trying to build a new 911 except for the GT3 and 911R. We will see the changes with some added features built in. A slight price increase will be added.

Probably will, but the increase is only 1.7% and if you are leasing, will have a higher residual than the 2017's that will be delivered in Q2 of this year. Plus, I understand that there is some additional equipment included as standard (multifunction steering wheel) and the PCM display and functionality has been improved.
