New vs old Carreras

Owners of new and old Carreras, what are your thoughts?
Did Porsche explain why they stop NA-engines,fuel consumption? Who cares..
Have new turbo-engines rally better fuel consumption than NA or what is reason behind this move?

If you're worried about fuel consumption, why don't you buy a Toyota?

I think it was more a question of why the move to turbo from NA. To OP, it is my understanding that emission standards were a major driver behind the change.

I believe mostly emissions, as the newer motors or 3.0 liter vs 3.8 or 3.6 or 3.4 and you get. more power from small displacement, maybe better mpg but who cares, LOL!

I just upgraded from a 2012 997.2 manual to a 2017 991.2 PDK. The thing is the NA cars need a manual to get the revs up quickly where my turbo car has lots of low end torque and is fine with PDK. Porsche obviously wants to sell PDK cars so this was a good move. Of course Porsche has a big problem with CAFE rules and that was a big reason too. Also I think they want to go to 1/2 litre cylinders accross the product line.

Actually, Under normal driving conditions (highway), my 991.2 get's better gas mileage than my Lexus (Toyota). Just saying.
