She's Back - RUF 993 Turbo R!!
#410
Hey guys. I've been a bit quiet lately. anxiously waiting for good weather to return!
I provided some initial driving impressions back in post #77. Since then the car has continued to impress and seems to have gotten faster over time. I only have about 5K miles on the clock since the conversion was done.
The car is faster in all rev ranges but pulls really hard in the higher revs, especially over 4K rpm. Night and day compared to stock. No real race stories to report, but i have played with newer exotics and the RUF has no problems keeping up. Zero reliability issues either. I try and put some miles on the car every other week at a minimum even if it's just a quick run to the store, but she runs fine whether it's been sitting a day or a month.
Been a pleasure to own thus far and for once has actually satisfied my itch to swap cars every 6 months!
Cheers!

After seeing this thread awhile back I remembered how much I missed my turbo and that I should get another one and make some RUF modifications to it. The car in this thread is incredible and I love every detail of it. I was sorely disappointed when I contacted RUF Dallas and was told that nothing was available anymore for 993 conversions. So I'm stuck with an all original red/tan 5,000 miles that now won't get RUF'ed out, bummer!

Guys,
Just learned that RUF is no longer offering the turbo R upgrade for the 993 (at least here in the states). Unfortunate, since this has been a great upgrade for me and one that I would stand behind. The best dollars I've ever spent on a car...Period. Hans and team have been awesome to work with and first rate in every way. Plus the car has had zero issues since I took delivery. They did much more than the upgrade on this car too including full top end and bottom end. Looks like I'm holding on to this baby!!! Hope everyone's well.
