Alternator...97 993TT
My son(Nathan) and I installed a "reconditioned" alternator today....WHAT A FRIGGIN "blanking" nightmare....Porsche needs to do a little(no alot) better job in their design to to accomadate the "backyard mechanic"...I thank God for my son's determination to get this job done...I still love these cars but this thing kicked our ??? today...Steve C..97 993TT(Black/Black...lightened flywheel, muffler bypass, ECU upgrade by Patrick Motorsports, GT 3 clutch)....
Yes, the job is a bit of a bear as I recall. I had no trouble following the DIY steps posted here => http://p-car.com/diy/alternator/alternator.html
The toughest part was getting the center pulley bolt off. After the bolt was off, it went relatively smoothly thou.
Congrads of successful DIY, always a great sense of accomplishment at the end!

Our toughest part was my son's "big hands", having the right tools(made a couple of trips) and getting the shims right to adjust the belt tension....it was the father-son thing that made it worthwhile....Steve C and my son Nathan...97 993TT(lightened flywheel, Patrick Motorsports ECU upgrade, GT 3 clutch, muffler by-pass)
