DAMN, I missed it by minutes.

So, I'm picking up my car from Niello Porsche today, after having some warranty work done, and I see a beautiful 1997 Grey 993 Turbo S drive off. My service guy tells me they just put that car up for sale, it had 6300 miles on it and was perfect. They were going to let it go for around 95k. I waited 20 minutes for him to get back and they guy ends up buying it. At least he seemed like a nice guy, but I wanted the damn car....

Don't mean to rub it in. But I wouldn't be able to sleep if I were you.

Wow.. good deal indeed! However I'm likely going to get my head chopped off for saying this but I'm pretty sure that had you bought it, driven it etc.. you'd end up driving the 996TT way more. Don't get me wrong the 993TT is a GREAT car but the 996TT is so much better in so many ways. The suspension geometry, the chasis, the grip, water cooled heads:P I could go on. If you'd bought it as a collector car with occasional usage to look at then I'd say go for it There are a lot of things that didn't age too well on 'em.

I actually wasn't that impressed with the S in person. For whatever reason, the car look outstanding in pictures.

Ok so to make you feel better Tooth last year I passed on a deal for a midnight blue GT2 for 100K. It was Wayne Gretzyk's old car and an 01- imported from Europe. I felt bad when it sold... Then it shows up at our shop some 11 months later for a flash and stuff. I wanted to cry! That car was awesome.

There was a dude running an Artic Silver one at Sebring in my run group last weekend with 12,000 miles. Beautiful. $95k for that car sounds like a great deal! Sorry you missed out on such a rare classic.

I know how disappointing it is to miss out on such a deal. Don't worry, if it was meant to be, you'll get another chance at it.

Doctor K is infamous around these parts
I know how you feel. The day I bought my 997 the dealership had a 993 TT on the showroom floor. I didn't see it until I walked out of the finance office. The car had 7000 miles showing and was at least as clean as my 19 mile 997. The PO must have spent BIG bucks on the upgraded interior..nicest leather I have ever seen and tons of CF. If I had seen it before I walked into finance it would be in my garage today
