I was under the impression that all "real" 993 GT2's were 2wd.

The 993GT2 was never homologated for the US but you can find them in any other country as street cars, and race cars.. Check out the bit about the VIN number in the link to know the difference between race and street versions

The EVO does not mean it is the racing version. The racing version had a TAG ECU instead of the Bosch Motronic 5.2.. It also had 5 fuel pumps, a totally stripped down interior (no carpets, sound padding etc..) , it had an integrated MAtter rollcage , and many other racing gizmos.
They also came with BBS Magnesium wheels instead of the Speedline Magnesium that you see in the picture.

They also had a pressure sensing system (no MAF), and were run at 1.2 Bar and 600+ HP with restrictors. The intercooler is a Secan intercooler in both versions but larger on the EVO ('98) racing version. The engine had no mufflers, cats etc.. obviously...

What your dad has is most likely the street version of the 993GT2, which is in fact more valuable than the race version, if it is still 100% original and well kept and maintained.

Your dad seems to know a lot about Porsche cars, this is not a car people know about in this part of the world (I am in Saudi) nor appreciate.

Let me know if you need more info.
Cheers.
Jean

Nice car. Just a correction, production stopped in 1998. Maybe it was purchased in 1999 however.
This is how the body work is on the GT2 EVO, the wide arches, bumper and wing are stock (maybe the front bumper is a little modified).
Had some photoshop fun so I am posting 3 pics of my car.

I believe this is the first time I 've seen pics of your car aside the avatar. It looks just as fast as it moves. Stunning.

PS No roll cage?

Thanks Vincent.

I do have a full 6 point rollcage but don't use it on the street because of the danger it represents. It is a bolt-on on reinforced welded plates.
Cheers
