Well I have owned both 993 tt for 3 years and 30,000 miles and now the 996 tt for 5 years and 35,000 miles. I would not take a 993 over the 996, the 996 is better for me in everyway. Just my opinion, I have modded my 996 to my liking. I am sure someone with a 997 tt would say the some over the 996 tt.

for sitting in the garage staring at it...the 993TT

everywhere else, the 996 hands down!

the 996 benefits from porsche engineers doing what was the best car without compromise. the 993 was the porsche engineers handcuffed by an old-and beloved, classic. especially in driving dynamics, chassis poise, and steering feel, the 996 wins. engine sound, neither is a match for better-souding engines from ferrari, bmw, and even the mustang. then you have to consider that the 993 is just way older, meaning it's going to have older car issues.

btw, is that 993TT bought from Naples Motorsports? here's the pics of that white one i'm betting is the same car:

if it's the same car, it had 11k miles when he bought it, and the price was, if i recall, also in the $70,000 range.

You also have to calculate cost of future repairs, which on a 993 can be prohibitive. A very low mile 993tt really depreciates when you start to drive it, so owners tend not to, a shame. I think the 993TT is a great car, but be sure you can afford to fix it later. That being said, 993TT!

993tt = great classic

996tt = great car.

true, stock 996tt are too tame...thats why a min 500hp is needed. 600 is even better!

ps eeeew @ that steering wheel!

I'd take a 993TT over a 996TT since the 997TT is out.

The 993TT is a classic that the 996 version will never be.

The 997TT is just so much better than the 996TT that I'd just have to get it over a 993TT regardless of its cult status in the 911 club.

If you get the 993TT, drive the snot out of it - live is too short to try and pamper depreciating assets - save the nurturing for your loved ones (human beings).

One BIG thing...................COST OF REPAIRS.

I had a 993TT for 8 months and put 10k into it (not including the paint). I just could not play with the big boys with regards to throwing $$$ at that car (and I did all the right inspections etc. B4 I bought).

I have not had a 996TT (Yet) but my 3 996's cost me less than 1k in repairs.

Clutch, Turbos, Front diff, Torque tube and the engine needed to be taken apart to fix the seals on the case bolts (the were seaping).

Just a few things. And NOTHING was below 1500 for parts.
