"Normal" 993 oil temps?

I did a long drive today, almost 300mi round trip, through the mountains, to a nice Bavarian type village, for Octoberfest, it was great, the car was flawless, well almost.

My oil temp, never really made it past the lower mark. It hovered under that mark for most of the trip. I did do some high speed high RPM sections, chasing my friends 500hp Audi S4.

Is this normal, or am I running on the low side? It was also raining for most of the trip, and I did spend a lot of time in 6th at lower RPM's.

On another note, my sunroof seams to make a whistle around 70mph, is this a common thing? What should I check?

i take it you are talking about the 8 oclock mark? This is normal and mine hardky ever goes over that in normal conditions. If it is HOT and I have the AC on stuck in traffic it will go over slightly but that's the only time.

Yea, that it. But today, when driving in Portland, it got hot, around the top marks! I think my fan isn't working properly.

I would get that checked ASAP! I think there are 2 stages of fans or speeds depending on temps. Not sure but you would get the answer on Rennlist.

you were on 6th gear? How fast were you going? That's probably the worst thing you can do to the engine. Unless you were going 90mph.

Try to keep the RPMS close to the 3.5K - 4K RPMS range for a happy engine.

Anyways, regarding your oil temps, it may be that your fan resistor is shot and needs to be replaced, vert common and easy to do.

Yup, 6th, around 70-80mph.

The oil temp is fine, the fans are fine, it was a sticky gauge, when I hit a bump it was going up & sticking there. After driving it around for a while it seams to have fixed it self. A little tap on the glass would reset to the 7-8 o-clock position.
