I am looking at a 98 993 C2S and would like to have the car checked out by a recommended mechanic to make sure everything is in order. The car is out of town for me, so before I book a flight, just hoping to get an independent feel for what shape the car is in.

With all the $$ in the area you would expect a couple of Porsche shops... But nothing that I am aware of.

Best bet: Look up Redwood Region, PCA and their officers online. They have a lot of memebers scattered about the North Bay and I think if you simply ask you will get a few references. Most of the places I know are some distance. I think this might work for you. You might also ask the owner who he uses for service and about records. If you are flying in I would think an owner would share this info. Presuming you get some history you can Google the shop name and see what comes up. A lot of times this has given me a LOT of good info as to what I might want to think.
