993 or M3
Try this, go and find a couple of 993's & M3's in your area, go & drive them.
Then, after the drive, PICK THE ONE YOU LIKE BETTER!
The M3 is a better car for every day driving, & is fun, the 993, is a pure sports car, the back seat is only good is you are under 5ft tall. Both are about the same to maintain & insure.
In the end, they are both great cars, & you can't go wrong with either one.

Well I took your advice and drove two 993's today
The 1st one was a 1998 Carrera S with 53,XXX miles at the local dealership.
The car drove great and was a blast until he told me $54,000 was the price
The 2nd one was a 1995 Carrera 4 with 45,XXX miles also at a dealership but a different one
The car also drove great and was a blast and hadling was excellent but for $43,000 i was a little iffy.
Other than that both car's were great. The P-car's Handles, Drive, and Everything about the car's are better than the M3.
The only reason i didn't drive any M3's is because i drove quite a few in the past.
Now the question is whats the price on a C2,C4,Carrera S, and Carrera 4S
with less than 50,000 miles on it? I have seen these going from $30-$40k is that right or off?
Thanks

C2-C4 (95-98) Anywhere from $20k to $40k depending on mileage/condition.
C2S-C4S (96-98) Anywhere from $35k-$60k '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' '''''''''''''''''''
C2S-C4S (96-98) Anywhere from $35k-$60k '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' '''''''''''''''''''
Really prices are all over the place right now, I've seen nice C4S's in the $40k range, & then one will pop up around $65k. I paid $55k for mine last year with 37kmi on it. My C4 I picked up last February for $35k with 70kmi.
If you look around there are great deals out there. A couple of guys on this board have just sold their awesome C4S & CS for high $30's low $40's.

I'd say there 100X more E46 who lost their engines do to improper bearing, then 993's with bad SAI. What I'm saying, is only a few cars have problems with it, but it's way over blown. Usually if the SAI is clogged, it's do to very worn valve guided, leading to high oil consumption, & that oil gumming up the SAI passages.
I'm currently lucky enough to have both. The M3 is much better for daily driving- at least here in Nashville with its rough roads and crazy weather. That said, if I had to let one of my cars go, the M3 would be the first up on the chopping block. I absolutely love my 993.
I own a 2009 BMW M3 sedan. The car is FABULOUS, and after 9 months and 13,500 miles, I am amazed at how wonderful a car it is... blistering fast, perfectly balanced and very comfortable. Can't remember which car mag it was this month, but it actually placed ahead of the 2010 997S (yes, the "S") with better lap times around one of the famous race tracks.
That having been said, look at my sign on ID.... "993orbust". There is a special something about the 993 porsche car that makes me just plain want one... to own, forever. I'm fussy, and I'm finding that the good ones are expensive. With 35-40K to spend, it's a no brainer. Get the 993.
For any of you guys that ever wonder... yes, the E90/ E92 M3 iseverything it is cracked up to be and more. I've already decided that it is a keeper too.

Weekend car = 993
Daily driver = M3. It's quite a bit faster and a hoot to drive.
You will get a lot of responses. Quite a bit of us have owned an M3 at one point or another. The M3 was a GREAT car. IMO there is no better overall car than an M3 (any model).
