My 993 was my favorite Porsche. I had several pre 964 also that were fun but lacked the power, styling, and handling of the 993. The 964 is kind of an odd duck. The bumpers never looked right and the 4wd system was too complicated and heavy, although an RS America would be interesting. If you can find one get a 993C2S. While the 996TT is a power monster, I had to redo the entire suspension to get it to feel right and it's still on the heavy side. On the financial side 993 retain their value better than 964, 996 or 997.

I went from 964 to 996 - tried to buy 964 back then got a 993. Didn't like the 996 feel. Drive as many as you can to decide.

I'm coming from a 99 996 to a 2011 GT3 now thinking of a 96 c4s. Don't get me wrong the Gt3 is a dream, power, handling, looks.... But it's difficult as a daily ride. Sometimes I just want to drive and when it's spirited driving it's at a beckon call......the Gt3 is either spirited or work

The only thing wrong with the GT3 as a Daily driver is the car is too low and all the spoilers in front gets scraped up too much. After driving the 2010 GT3 my 993 C2S feels soft and wallowy, and even the RSAmerica feels less precise. The other thing about the GT3 is you need to mount Continental Extreme Contact D/W street tires or Michelin Supersports to avoid dangerous when wet conditions. A buddy of mine spun his GT3RS on the street during a rain storm driving on the OEM PSC's. So 993 is the best car for dd use and should hold its value better than the newer generation 911's.

^^^ I agree with the above. I really miss our 993C2S. It was a blast driving around town, fun and very playful. My 997TT is kind of a PITA to drive around town. If you think a stock GT3 is too low, try driving my TT which is even lower, stiffer, and has a CMS Carbon Fiber front chin spoiler! You really need to careful. Plus the TT is just to damn fast for around town and freeway driving.

I foresee another 1998 C2S in my lifetime. IMO it still has the best lines/curves out there.

I take it your TT is lowered?? Because I have yet to see a stock ride height turbo lower than a GT3. Although, depending on the front lip, that can make a big difference!

^^^ Yes its lowered. It spends most of its time at the track. The underside of the spoiler is 3.75" off the ground.

I've had my '95 993 Carrera Coupe (sunroof delete) for 12.5 years. I still completely love it. Great to drive (fast or slow), and built the way Porsches used to be built (no squeaks or rattles, though only 68K miles). Durable, reliable, wonderful car.

Last but not least is that the moment you leave the old classic air-cooled Porsche models you have become completely dependent on the dealership network again. Part of the experience of owning Porsches has for me personally to be able to work on and maintain the cars without dealer personnel involvement. Today's cars are impossible to sort out without the $30K factory PIWIS/1/2/3's. The 964 and 993's are the last cars you can get a <$1000 Durametric scan tool to do all your own repairs at home.
