Automatic 993

Has any manual drivers ever driven an automatic 993? I'm seeing such a huge difference in price, and while I realise the automatic is a tiptronic, I wanted to get some feedback, opinions.

All my previous cars has been almost exclusively manual transmissions.

Thanks.

The early Tiptronics are not very fun to drive. They are really slow shifters and the gearing is less than ideal. They are not known for durability either.

I have a Tip in an S4 and its night and day comparing the 1990's version found in the 993.

Personally, I would avoid the Tip. If its a price consideration you can still get decent deals on 993's just be sure to do your research and get a PPI.

Oh, I saw you have a 73 2002tii. Lucky you. I had a 74 2002 that got totalled by a truck in January. Loved that car. Way better than my M3.

Drive both back to back, then decide.

I have driven a couple TIPS. IMHO, it makes a sports car feel like a Honda. It just kills all the performance and feel of the car. If you want it for a daily driver in traffic, that's cool. But if you plan to have fun with the car, don't get a TIP.
