Need Some Buying Advice--993 Cab
Hi,
I've been looking at 993 cabs for a little while now, and there is a bit of a spread in prices, some of which doesn't seem in line with reality. I guess that's to be expected based on different sellers' needs/preferences, etc.
In particular, I'm interested in a 1998 Arctic Silver with Boxter Red. I think it's a great color combination, and it looks from the pictures to be in good shape--really good shape (cosmetically). Who knows what's under the hood, of course. Anyway, it lists just over 26K miles, and interestingly, the Carfax indicates--and the salesman verified--that the car has been on the market since May of last year.
The asking price is $55,900. Amusingly, when asked if the car had indeed been for sale since May of last year, the salesman said, "It's just sitting there going up in value."
I can't be 100% sure, but I believe he's the same salesman I spoke with a couple of days ago about a different low-mileage 993 cab, priced at $59,900, who explained to me how a maintenance history was useless because his dealership inspected the car. Salesman all the way, I guess.
Anyway, back to my question. What would you suggest I offer for the 26K mile 993 cab, contingent on a good PPI? Priced at 55,900, it's been sitting there for 11 months.
I feel quite sure many of you know of the vehicle. Hell, the salesman might even be reading this. Does anyone have any scoop to share?
Thanks,
Lou
P.S. I call dibs, by the way. No one here can have a crack at this car until I say.
