Both pics are awsome D! Are you planning on selling it?

Luis: At some point yes, just not sure when that'll be. Here are my thoughts; it's a little verbose, but it's late at night and I'm rambling, so hang in there. :p

I don't have a race car anymore, and I'm crawling out of my skin. I was going to turn this into a (partial) track car but then decided against it. This one's just too nice to abuse. Better I buy a car that's already tracked, drive someone else's car, do arrive-and-drives, or who knows. It took me a long time researching, searching and digging to find this particular car, it'd be an awful shame to mess it up. This was a low-mileage car first owned by one of Al Unser Jr's Indy Car team backers (bought it for his fiance), then it was purchased by a collector in LA, then by me. There aren't too many S's around really. Turbo body, RWD, air-cooled, NA, big wide lusty hips, just classic old school Porsche. Love it the way it is.

I used to buy/sell a different car every year, sometimes more than once a year, so I get kind of itchy for something new. Who knows, I might keep this one and look for a track car to add. I wrestle with this subject all the time. Just when I make up my mind, I go for a drive and then change it back. Even when I'm not seriously looking for a car, I'm still shopping and looking at street car classifieds, race car ads, magazine, internet, car club newsletters talking to friends, shops, etc. I'm like a serial sports car browse-aholic. The hunt. It's all about the hunt for a car you're fantasizing about. Then you find it, drive it, love it, baby it, experience it, photograph it, bathe it, get distracted and daydream about it...then you see another one and imagine the whole experience anew. Some people are like that with women, some with cars. (Some both, I'm just not that guy.)

I almost bought an '89 930T two months ago, and if that deal went through, this car would've been up for sale. It was another special car, very low mileage, with Protomotive twin turbo motor (530-580hp depending on fuel/tuning), very interesting history, tasteful upgrades throughout, etc. Owner wasn't straightforward, and so it went to another buyer; probably meant to work out that way for some reason.

I still remember reading 911 articles in my dad's R&T when I was a little squirt, grew up with 930T and 935 posters on my wall, and the old school 911 shape was just burned into my brain forever. In '95 I had a 3rd gen RX7 and a friend got the 993 twin the next year. Seeing that, it was like the old school 911 had been perfected; I was just blown away by the shape, better than ever. Having this car is like a dream realized; a way to experience a piece of Porsche past and my past at once. Very cool indeed. :)

Nice rides, glad to see activity in this forum.
Do any of you guys run dual oil coolers?

Super D 01-09-2006 09:41 PM

I would've run duals if this car was tracked, but it hasn't been and won't be, so not needed for street.

Nah, already been there with a '95 968 track car. :D

That car was really something. Not much power, but the handling was great! It was funny dicing with GT2 and -3 racecars in the turns. On the straights however...seeeee ya. hilarious

LSD is a must if you ever DE or track your car.
