Wastegate change?

Hey guys,

Was just curious if there is antyhing we could do as far as changing wastegates to get a louder sound or different sound. I dont know too much about this topic so don't kill me if what I'm saying makes no sense. let me know if any of you have any suggestions or any insight. Thanks in advance!

I could be wrong but I don't think changing the wastegates would have anything to do with a different sound...

Are you confusing wastegates with blow off (diverter) valves?

There is no change in sound when changing wastegates. Unless your talking about going to external wastegates and venting them?

I hear mine release because they are now mounted in my fenderwells.
My buddy says it sounds like the "crack of a bullwhip" every time I shift.

The big Garret Ball Bearing turbos have external wastegates so you really
hear them with that type of turbo.

I was thinking more along the lines of an external wastegate, I know one of the board sponsors was fabricating a kit for this but some people were opposed to it and I dont no if anybody evre installed one on their cars

taizen is infamous around these parts
I think you are referring to the blow off valve or diverters. They open when you shift and you can hear them. Waste gates don't open during shifts, they open when you reach a set boost pressure -- hence the aftermarket 1bar wg's. Even external waste gates typically dump into the muffler otherwise when you hit the boost level your waste gates open at, it will sound like an open exhaust.
