Final Texas Mile Thread
again, considering there is no proof to back up these claims and the car hasnt run any decent number both in the 1/4 mile and the mile, its all bench racing.
Out of curiosity, can you get joe to post up his 2000RWHP dyno sheet or video? thanks.. Also, i could have sworn someone said joe now lives in NC.

considering it put 1679 I think exactly before it was torn apart, and Stage 6 is 5 miles from me, and Joe is my neighbor, I get my numbers directly from the source, not the nutswingers all over the place. If YOU don't realize, Joe's car is being built for Standing mile racing, so it is a purpose built race car with MUCH more power and aerodynamics. It is not driven anymore, and was just being built for the standing mile this year, which obviously he didn't make it to. Hopefully next year. I have no reason to back him up, but don't say that my claims are false. All I am saying is that Joe's car would, IMHO, pull 228.xx easily in a standing mile.
BUT, I was with Joe a few months back in the airport and we were chatting, and he wasn't happy with 16xx RWHP, so they were tearing it apart for like the fifth time, going larger turbos shooting for 2000RWHP. So since that was in April, I am sure he has got the car where he wants it now, which is 1800-2000RWHP

Peter,
Tell me about the Tx Mile in March. I was planning on the supra nats w/ an emphasis on the track and 60-130 events. I was going to run the Nitto 01 R compounds all around.
If I do the mile I might want different tires and will need to rebalance (car is set to factory setting right now and very twitchy above 120) and corner balance.
Edit: I just checked thier web-site: The Tx mile is March 24-25th. That should not conflict w/ the Supra nats, yes? After the Supra nats I will corner balance and swap out my tires. Should be a fun month.

Just an FYI to make 2000rwhp your not going to do it with a set of small frame turbos. I don't think 2x T6 flanged 88mm Turbos are going to fit really easy in the back of a GT.
Texas Mile is great, however I believe more safety measures need to be in place for everyone's safety. They need to supply machines capable of doing X-Rays on everyones tire before they run. Cage or No-Cage a blowout at 200MPH+ can rip the cage apart. Wouldn't want anything bad to happen to anyone at the event.
Marty
Fantastic result, congratulations, you have certainly proven to put your money where your mouth is.
Congratulations as well to all the other tuners, namely the Porsche guys, EVOMS and Eddie Bello, the results were impressive!!
It would be interesting to know if there was any stock 996TT, 997TT or 996GT2 just to be able to benchmark.
Marty, I have not seen your data but from the trap speed, I would say that your 0-186mph should be around 25-26 seconds, RT12 territory, which says a lot. The RT12 doing those numbers was a 650 HP 2WD, lighter, and with better aerodynamics. Aerodynamics alone make around 40HP difference between both cars (997 vs 996) at those speeds.
The Eddie Bello narrowbody 964C2 is a high speed wonder, it reminds me of the well prepared yellowbird, with all the right components to set world records, quite an achievement, it would have been very interesting to see more data about that car's performance.
Cheers to all and be safe!.

Marty - Again - Congrats. Good to see someone that is willing to go out and actually run the car instead of bench-racing. It is awesome that you hit 190 mph - I knew your car was wicked fast. I am still a little bummed that I was unable to make the trip. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we can get together and you can fill me in at what sounds like a fun event. I will let you know if I will be able to run on Saturday - still out of town.
KPG, Top Gun, and the rest,
Thanks alot, I wish you guys well in getting your cars running soon.
You do know all the ribbing can get carried and personal.
It was really cool to see how well a car (various) perform under these hot
and sometimes windy conditions. Everyone had the same goal, but everyone would
have helped anyone else out. You guys with your motor builds (UMW "full monty") should be up around that 200 mark which would be absolutely awesome.
The RPM guys also need to be congratulated as their 996TT (of unknown mods),
went 191 mph!!!
Zuccone,s (EVOMS) runs were very good as well putting th 997TT at 187 mph, I believe.
(You know that Todd is able to wring every ounce of performance out of that car and
no one would have been able to take that car higher than him!)
Their was a 997TT with a Protomotive ECU thier that did 177 mph.
(they were the only (2) 997TT's.)
mk
This event is going to definitely grow in popularity because I believe it is the only one
of its kind in the US! They are thinking about adding a 3rd event per year.
I will be back and this is the ideal get together, fair, safe, and not too hard on the
car's drivetrain. (not like drag racing or several 20 lap sessions at a track).

Event is an awesome Venue to see, hear, and talk to someof the Best Tuners, ANYWHERE!!
Heck, I spoke with Tommy Bahn at length, the owner of the DEVO tuning
EVO (who temporarily took the unlimited street class record from Tommy Bahn last year), Eddie Bello, Todd Zuccone, and of course, the Knighton's
from Protomotive. Very interesting cars showing up to Win;
Heffner's Yellow/Black Ford GT/TT, Tommy's Supra, Devo's EVO (who is
Markski's buddy from Chicago), and that absolutely Fu**ing CRAZY white
911 Turbo of Eddie's !!!! He drove that car TO THE EVENT and then went
219 mph. Outstanding job Eddie, and a pleasure to meet you! BTW, Tommy
Bahn's Supra is sick, sick, sick!!! spinning its tires above 150 mph at the
half mile mark

.breakdown of my runs:
Day 1:
184.009 , 184.844 (let's turn off the PSM next time shall we
)Day 2: little splash of MS109 (I drove the car to a Wedding in Austing saturday night and passed Powell like a madman on the outroad as I was impossibly late), PSM off, mirrors folded in...
189.926 mph
I sat idling for at least 10 minutes waiting for final run as they put a bunch
of insane Busa riders ahead of me.
Final run ==
190.734 mph (official time and 190 mph club member
)I DID NOT PUT Todd's special program in which would run some more timing,
etc. My car was pulled off the trailer, minor taping and run. I then drove
to Austin on 93 octane and drove back on Sunday. thru in the MS109 mixed
with the 93 left in the tank and ran it, period.
There is MORE in the car but I am a quit while I am ahead guy as my budget
does not allow otherwise!
Thanks to all who helped me which included everyone from VR Alex
(quick tech inspection !!), Todd Zuccone and his guys helping push my car
while in line and gave me a ride on the track in his Gator, Eddie Bello
(for inpiration and admiration of what a Porsche turbo can do at the limit!),
and of course the Knighton's who helped me load, unload, keep in in water
and make sure my car was safe, they are a class act!
Awesome event and my car ran perfectly in the horrendous Texas Sun and heat. I felt like a dried up Armadillo by the time I left the event.
Jean will analyze my AX-22 0-100,200,300 and I will post.
Nice to meet Powell, Pauling Walnuts, RobMD99, Akram and the gang as well!
Marty K
