no way will a sl55 take on a stock turbo from a roll, impossible ... i live close by a MBZ dealer and have taken them all on with my tip and have KILLED them all including E55 and S55 and of course SL55. And I mean KILLED, not even close on surface road.

also SL600.

"What's going on here?" Sounds like your a bit FOS. A guy here at work has a 55. W drive the same route home and when we play, he gets behind.

now i promise you .. that if you just have a stock tt and your claiming that the 55 falls behind against you every time i would like you to come and show me that ill fall behind if you think im full of it ... like i said before IM GETTING A TT MYSELF ... IM NOT BASHING THE CAR ... IM just telling you what i observed, and that in a straight line which it was both times my car overtook the turbos.
now im just saying that i think a stock non x 50 turbo against a 55 will lose in a straight. if anyone in los angeles who has a stock turbo would like to to test this and post the results on six speed please pm me ... it just has to be done within the next month because my car gets bought back from the dealer soon, and i would like to test this out before i get the new car

doug is your car absolutely stock without the x50 or chip or exhaust?

i would like to campare stock to stock

what kind of responses would you expect from this board?

it's no miracle that the 493hp SL 55 with lots more torque will beat a 415hp stock 996TT from a roll on where weight becomes less important.

any way you dice it up, the SL 55 is still a Benz, meaning that it's not a sports car and never will be.

maybe on an airport strip, potentially straight freeways too ... I'm talking on regular roads and I have always left 55s behind.

That came across very harsh and I apologize for that. I was tpying at work and not really think about it.

The SL55 is not as quick as a stock turbo at normal speeds. I have driven it, but I did not get on it too much as it was downtown on 35 and 40 mph roads. On the highway, we go maybe 80 to 85 max as he is not as much of a risk taker. I can definitely pull ahead at normal driving speeds within or close to the speed limit. I have not seen any performance numbers, but I would guess he could not overcome the weight difference until hitting higher speeds than we play around at. He lives about mile from from me and we are together for about 15 of 16 miles when we leave at the same time and he has never pulled away from me. I am bone stock.

Perhaps you were hitting serious speeds where you encountered difficulty and I was thinking more 0 - 60 or 30 to 60 type of runs. Perhaps at 100 to 120, the 55 may creep by. I dunno.
