Unhappy Wanted: more low-end torque

What mod will give me the most torque at the low-end (e.g. between say 2000 and 3500 rmp)?

Is any chip better than the rest?

Thanks.

1) Wrap your header exhaust
2) Choose a correct hot side impeller for your K16's
3) Change 3rd through 6th gears.

Chad,

How do you wrap your header and exhaust? With what, how difficult is it to do for a novice?

Or you can buy the brand new set of ceramic coated and ported headers like on Sharky's...I have one in the FS section. Ordered and bought them but never installed them since TT is for sale...

Get a chip. After I chipped my car with no other modifications, it feels like I am in at least one gear lower than I actually am.

I forgot to mention that I have X50. The bigger turbo seems slower to come on. The torque curve published by Porsche indicates that it has less torque than the non-X50 TT at low RPM.

jlee, Please tell us what you have. Thanks.

I have Upsolute. For $525 the improvement in acceleration is fantastic to say the least. I actually test drove a GT2 at a local dealership while my car was being serviced(this was before the chip) and afterward when I drove my car I was so disappointed at how sluggish it felt, that I was downright depressed. I would step on the gas and it almost felt like there was something wrong with the car because of the sluggish acceleration. I was feeling down for the whole week and seriously considered taking a big loss and trading up to the GT2(It has been only 6 months since I had my turbo). I had been thinking about chipping the car on and off for a while so I decided to give it a try to see what kind of improvement it would make. What a difference a chip makes! The car now feels like a totally different car. I honestly feel that the acceleration, at least subjectively, feels about the same as the GT2. I have stock suspension so when I am accelerating hard on first gear and also second, the front end feels like it is lifting up which I never felt before the chip. If you want more power(both low end torque and high end horsepower) chipping, IMHO, is definitely the way to go.

Mine is unchipped and my front wheels do that. I can't wait to see what it feels like after!

It would take a novice 2-3 hours. Very easy to do. The product can be bought from Thermotec. Make sure you buy the carbon black and not the white wrap. You do not have to paint the carbon black wrap. www.thermotec.com

Chad,

Wrapping the header and exhaust seem to make a lot of sense. Is there any test data that shows the difference?

I'm also interested in this. Can I do it w/o taking the headers off? How much should I buy? 1" or 2" wrap? How do I put it on? Can I cut it? How does it stick?

these the stock headers that are ported and ceramic coated? What does it actually accomplish and do you need special programming to feel the full affect?
