Watched a teen die Friday night...
I had to evacuate my home Monday morning here in san diego, which was quite an experience, it was basically an exodus from the area in which I reside. I just came home now and read this and it puts everything into perspective, life and being able to live it is worth more than anything and for this young girl to lose her life so tragically is just heart breaking and I think it has enhanced the shell shocked state I am in, but also made me greatful for what I still have...my regards to her family and to the topic creator it sounds like you did all you could!
Mike, sorry to here this story! I'm glad that someone took the time to get out of bed and lend a hand where he could. I hope the young woman that died knew you were there with her in spirit. I would hate to die alone. You should be commended for your acts as a good human being. Teens are teens and it is hard to get thru their heads that we are just a biological bag of bones that can do miraculous things with our brains and our bodies. One thing that we aren’t is armored to protect ourselves. I too have two boys that are driving and driving too fast some of the time. I worry about them just like my parents worried about me when I was growing up. Put your mind at rest, you did what was asked of you, to be there when you were needed.

Mike, tragic story!
We are so lucky to have the life and health that most of us have.
It pains me to think about her mother...just awful.
Very strong of you to get out of bed and help.

That is so sad...RIP.
When I was a bike messenger in SF a guy got hit by a car...flew through the air...I ran over and he died as I was applying pressure with my rolled up shirt to his head wound....he looked me right in the eyes as he took his last breath.
He had icy blue eyes and I will never forget that look.

Mike - Sorry to hear your story....I've gotten over the hole inside but the image never leaves your mind. I had a similar experience and it was 20 years ago, life is special enjoy and be with people you love....
just think about the fact(as others mentioned) that because of you, she didnt die alone. I think that may be one of the most significent and influential thing one human can do for another...
