Boost Q....Modified Stock vs. Aftermarket

I have a stock k-16 car. Until 8 months ago, I was running a modified X-50 exhaust (all the baffles removed). It was a tremendous difference vs the stock exhaust. What was a 0.6 bar car (saw 0.7 briefly maybe once) became a solid 0.7 bar car, with 0.8 flashes alot of times.

OK, 8 months ago I put on a 2nd gen Fabspeed SuperSport.....fantastic sound...but WAY too loud. Would hit 0.7 bar always, then oscillate between 0.6 and 0.7. When I had the car in the shop in July, the guy that drove it told me clutch time was coming up. So periodically, I'd do the self test, 4th gear at 2000 rpms and stomp it. No slippage.

So a week ago, I put the modified X-50 back on because I'm thinking about selling the Fabspeed (neighbor and wife complaints). And the FIRST time I get on it, the things slips like hell and you smell something burning.

What that tells me, is that the more restrictive exhaust allows for more boost quicker.......even though I'm not sure it makes much sense, unless because I have a stock k-16 car, I'm not "filling up" the Fabspeed like a k-24 car would.

Any thoughts?

This would be correct...you will lose low end with less restrictive exhaust...all in favor of high end power and possibly sound. You can modify the ECU to take advantage of the better flow and lessen this condition.

That doesn't explain the difference in boost or that one hit of the boost bong fried the clutch.
