600hp, 600ft-lb Porsche Turbo wins One Lap Of America Race!!

One of the articles is here (sort of an advertisement):
http://www.stoptech.com/press_releas...pofamerica.htm

Torrance, CA… Driving a 600hp, 600ft-lb Porsche 996 Turbo equipped with StopTech’s front Balanced Brake Upgradetm, Mark DaVia and Drew Wikstrom were declared the overall champion of the 2004 One Lap of America. The team racked up the most points in the eight day, 6,200 street and track mile race that started on May 2.

Mark and Drew split the road driving duties, although at the track, Mark did the driving and Drew filled in as crew chief. When asked how the brake system performed, Mark said, “The StopTech system performed flawlessly the entire eight days. Brake modulation and pedal feel couldn’t have been better.” Using a PFC 97 compound on the front and PFC 01 on the rear, the team said that they “had excellent pad wear and rotor wear and experienced no brake fade.” The performance with the StopTech’s this year was a significant improvement over last year’s 5th place finish with the stock setup. Referring to the StopTech's as "hand of God braking," Mark said, "I was able to out-brake all the other cars in the field, including a Dodge Viper, Porsche GT3 with ceramic brakes and a Corvette Z06."

Participants were required to drive their cars from one track to another with the option of towing a utility trailer. The StopTech system on the winning car is the same brake system available for our street performance customers. The front kit includes 355x32mm two-piece floating directional AeroRotors® with directional AeroHatstm, ST-40 4-piston calipers with patented bolt-in bridge, and StopTech stainless steel lines. The StopTech 996 front brake upgrade was designed using appropriately sized caliper pistons to maintain proper front to rear brake bias.

The StopTech two-piece floating directional AeroRotor resists coning during heating and cooling cycles. The patent pending directional hats induce more airflow over the outer surface of the rotors, providing additional cooling, improving overall system performance, and extending pad life.

StopTech sells both front only and 4-wheel upgrades for the Porsche 996 Turbo. The list price of the front system is $2,595 and the 4-wheel system is $4,495.

To late.
brembo has already been ran over by the stoptech freight train.

i dont know if you guys follow other car forums, but if you do you will see that stoptech out performs brembo on just about every car, bmw, supra, viper, vette, 350z, sti , evo etc. etc. in the 4 piston style.
wonder how they fare against the 6 and 8 piston brembo but wouldnt be surprised if they were better

I agree, Stoptech kicks booty! If I need to upgrade, it's either Brembo LaMans or Stoptech.
