I love convertibles, have always had one, always will.....
Having said that, convertibles do have downsides, and spending $100k on a car with annoying things (extra road noise, more chassis flex......which would REALLY bother me in a high HP car, vandalism issues, they will ALL eventually leak) really bothered me.
So I bought a coupe AND a beater Camaro convertible......I don't care if you break into it, don't care that it flexes like Arnold Schwarzenegger, go ahead leak all you want.....it only cost $7k.......and the Porsche gets extra days off....not a bad life

Not in a 996TT
I have a Lexus sc430 as a daily driver and all my friends call it a girlie car, its a good thing i have a 996tt coupe because it keeps them quiet. I'm going to have to trade that girlie car in..even my girlfriend jokes me on the Lexus

Dave, since you just got out of a SL55 a 996TT Cab seems the best of both worlds. Sure it's manly cool to drive a coupe (sausage magnet), but I guarantee you more chicks will be drawn to the Cab.
Look up the "manly convertible" post...

Yea thats the thing - i have a feeling come warmer weather - the only time im going to be really driving the car is when im really going to miss it
its funny, b/c before i bought the SL55 i didnt like cabs, i thought i would drive with the top up most of the time too - and from the first day i had it till the last day of warm weather and whenever i had the chance in between, the top was down... all the time, i loved it

Dave, if you are going to take the car and make it a track car.. Go Coupe, otherwise it is a no brainer. I have had 3 Porsche's a 911sc, 930 and my 996tt, 2 Cabs 1 Coupe, I would never go coupe again, unless I was tracking the car.
I drive my car all year long top down. Heated seats and a beenie all said and done!!

That is really a coincidence...I had a '78 930, a '80 911SC Cab...sold them both and bought my '04 996TT cab...great minds think alike...

My 911SC was a Red 1983 I loved it and the 930 was a White 1989. Also loved that.
We really do have the same tastes!!

I also have a hard top. Also, the fast 996 Turbo (235 MPH) was a Cab built by 9ff. It too had a removable hard top.
My first Porsche was a 1977 911 S Targa, then a 1980 SC and the a 1997 Turbo and then the 996TTS.
