Local TT - PPI this week
Looking at this one. I'm thinking mid 50s is where this will land.

Judging by the bumperettes this is a really early 2001. For the PPI and the test drive I'm watching for the 2nd gear popping issue so I'll decelerate in 2nd. Looking for leaks. According to the dealership it's got a chip and SSK. Not sure about an aftermarket exhaust but certainly the tips.
Am I missing anything?

Yeah. It's got lowering springs and those fugly wheels. Thanks for reminding me the dash is warping which is a HUGE mark against it. It will probably only get worse and cost a fortune to repair/replace.
Okay the dash would kill me!!! Everyone who gets in that car is going to say "what's going on here?" I'd keep looking doesnt seem like this is the car IMO.
I love the color combo. If I can get them to come off for the dash and the wheels (if the PPI goes well) then I may just bite. Tomorrow I'll drive it to see if it really moves me.

There are many 996tt's on the market, many without issues. The build date is 08/00, so as you said it's an early '01. The large leather bubble on the dash and the 275 size tires on the rears (plus, are they some off-brand, I don't recognize the brand name?) are bad omens for this car. Houston is a big city, and there should be many cars out there. Don't settle for one that has known issues, even for a low price. The time, money and frustration you put into the car to "make it right" isn't worth the money saved up front. Good luck on you search.
ekyub -- If you're really serious about this car, use the OBC to display the boost level on the dash display and watch it during your test drive. Car dealers have been known to "misrepresent" options and features on their cars -- if the ECU has been flashed, you'll see over 0.7-0.8 bar sustained in the higher gears at higher RPMs. A quick look under the car will tell you if the exhaust is OEM or aftermarket. Ask for prior service records. I know you've probably already done this, but don't forget to run the CarFax (it doesn't tell everything, but you'll kick yourself if it does show somthing and you didn't check).
If this is one of the first 911 turbos you've driven, try to get past the "wow" factor of the power on boost and try to focus on the other factors of how the car drives, handles, brakes, steers, etc. Good luck, and have fun.

Btw, how can you tell the dash is bubbling? I can't seem to see it in the pics

M32 (Edwin) -- You can see the front of the middle portion of the dash in the 13th pic from the bottom has a large bubble in it. Hard to see in the pic, but would jump right out at you in person. Looks like a sign of long-term direct sun exposure.
Let us know what you think of it after you do your test drive. I still remember the first time I went WOT in mine
