Thumbs up

I have forgotten how many I have built.

This has been beaten to death on Rennlist. The request to just do rods alone is not something I will provide nor will any real engine builder. The difference between the guy that "don one of them or too of them before" and an engine builder is huge according to time. How many preassemblies does the book account for? None, because it does not take into account the fact the motor has errors and should be blueprinted. The oil pump clearance and so forth. So again a clear cut answer for just do my rods time is not something I would quote or do.
Well Said!

I think requesting a quote for a range of hours from 50 to 80 or whatever, based on previous experience, is a reasonable thing to ask.

Removing is always faster than putting in Tom. You have to bleed the systems, fill, etc. It is always more going back in.

The numbers posted generally are book time which means the average wrench at the dealer takes X amount of hours to complete that job. The game within the dealer is to find short cuts and do the job in half the time, flag the 16 hours do it in 8 and do another job in the other 8 he would have been doing the install. Additionally PNCA has warranty time which is what they will pay the dealer knowing they can do the job in less than book time. For example most dealers still charge an R&R of a motor plus 2 additional hours to pull the clutch. Clearly it takes no where near this time when you pull the tranny alone.
