How do you turn it off? I can lock the car and it will turn off but I can't seem to turn it off while the car is unlocked.

Don't think it can be turned off. The button on the side makes it brighter or dimmer.

If you weren't going to drive the car for a few days, is it better to lock the car and let it turn off? Seems to me like it would be a waste of batery power if you left the light on. Doesn't the alarm leds' use more power?

The LED does turn off eventually...like 5 minutes. If you lock your car and leave it, your remote key fob will need to be restarted after about 5 days (easy enough).
