Is 3 previous owners an issue?

I saw a 2003 996TT 23K miles recently in a small used car dealer. It does have some mods which I probably will go with the same direction.

'19 HRE WHEELS, KW VARIANT COILOVERS, GT2 REAR CARBON FIBER WING, CARBON FIBER THROUGHT INTERIOR, DIVERTER VALVES, EUROPIPE EXHAUST SYSTEM, GIAC ECU FLASH, NAV

When I run a CARFAX report on the car, it shows OK for everything. The one thing that bugs me a bit is the fact that there were 3 previous owners.

So the questions is whether having 3 previous owners is a problem or not? and is there anything I have to look out for on a modded 996TT?

If all the owners drove it good....And did regualr maintenance I dont think how there is a problem with it. But if they drove it like they stole it then it would be a problem.

Check if they have any service records/paperwork.

And take it in to a PORSCHE dealership to get it fully checked out. I think it costs like around $150-200 for the techs to go through the whole car and see if there is any problems.

The number of owners is not the issue. The key is their maintenance schedule on the car and indeed their driving habits. One very hard driving, low budget/non caring driver is far worse than 10 hard driving but conscientious drivers with an **** attitude towards maintenance.

3 owners it not a big deal at all, as these car's get older that will be more and more common. My car has had a few owners, and it wasn't an issue at all. I've seen numerous Supra's with 3-10 owners and seen the same car's come with different owners (I think a few cars have been in with 3 owners all for modifications each time). As long as its maintained and well kepts its fine.

agreed, 3 owners not a big deal provided it has been well maintained and passes a complete Pre Purchase Inspection. The benefit for you is it sounds as though the mods have already been done, saving you a bit of money down the road!
